The New Bard Image

At first Level you don´t really need a wand actually... it is not giving any bonuses to you...

And even if I can use chain mail for +1 AC Leather Armor has no penalty and doesn´t reduce your speed...

if you don´t melee, and i expect cunning bards to avoid melee if possible, leather is the way to go... even if your AC will fall behind one point...

Most Bards are going to use one implement most of the time, just like every other multiple-implement wielding class. Spending a minor action once per combat should be enough most of the time.

And besides, you're a bard. Juggling ought to come naturally ;)

Ruby Scabbard is a level 5 item. In most games, it should be easy to get unless your DM has ruled that AV items aren't accessible.

lol, ok I don't have a comeback on the juggling bit ;)

I don't know what is going to be available yet, we are only one session in and we haven't found much beyond a dagger. :P

Cunning bards should stay far, far away from pointy swords.

Use wand to cast attack spells = attack

I was factoring that into the equation. The idea was to have the wand "out", so that if you wanted to change you wouldn't have to spend 2 minors each time (put away sword and get out wand, or vice versa).

It seems like you could conceivably hold a weapon in the shield hand (not using it), thus it may be possible to switch between the two without spending anything but free actions. There are going to be DMs that houserule against it ... but are those same DM's houseruling against say ... being able to pull out and throw a weapon while holding onto a two handed weapon (since, while not attacking with it, you can just hold it in one hand, and use your free hand to do whatever you need)

Off topic but I felt it deserved a comment.

*thumbs up*

May I applaud you for that kind of thinking.

Okay carry on with the topic for which I have no real input since in 20+ years I've played as a player once.

Meh, I just don't like the idea of juggling things like that. Once or twice a fight, fine, but not every round. It just feels wrong. .
