WHAT WONDERFUL WITCHERY IS THIS?

A magical mixture of rules options for the world's greatest roleplaying game.

The wizard Tasha, whose great works include the spell Tasha’s hideous laughter, has gathered bits and bobs of precious lore during her illustrious career as an adventurer. Her enemies wouldn’t want these treasured secrets scattered across the multiverse, so in defiance, she has collected and codified these tidbits for the enrichment of all.
  • EXPANDED SUBCLASSES. Try out subclass options for every Dungeons & Dragons class, including the artificer, which appears in the book.
  • MORE CHARACTER OPTIONS. Delve into a collection of new class features and new feats, and customize your character’s origin using straightforward rules for modifying a character’s racial traits.
  • INTRODUCING GROUP PATRONS. Whether you're part of the same criminal syndicate or working for an ancient dragon, each group patron option comes with its own perks and types of assignments.
  • SPELLS, ARTIFACTS & MAGIC TATTOOS. Discover more spells, as well as magic tattoos, artifacts, and other magic items for your campaign.
  • EXPANDED RULES OPTIONS. Try out rules for sidekicks, supernatural environments, natural hazards, and parleying with monsters, and gain guidance on running a session zero.
  • A PLETHORA OF PUZZLES. Ready to be dropped into any D&D adventure, puzzles of varied difficulty await your adventurers, complete with traps and guidance on using the puzzles in a campaign.
Full of expanded content for players and Dungeon Masters alike, this book is a great addition to the Player's Handbook and the Dungeon Master’s Guide. Baked in you'll find more rule options for all the character classes in the Player's Handbook, including more subclass options. Thrown in for good measure is the artificer class, a master of magical invention. And this witch's brew wouldn't be complete without a dash of added artifacts, spellbook options, spells for both player characters and monsters, magical tattoos, group patrons, and other tasty goodies.

I am a little bummed that it is pitched as a one off change to race to make a special individual snowflake when I was hoping there would be rules for making different whole sociology structures... it may still have usefulness for the DM but it didn’t sound so in that interview.

Yes, that was such a good design decision

I gave this feedback in the survey at the time: just open up the entire fighting style options list to anyone who has access to the feature Fighting style (whether by class, subclass, or Feat). And add those particular styles to the mix (and maybe one for Arcane Warrior, giving access to Wizard cantrips).

Also: Psionic Soul confirmed via that last link and the preview pic showing it and the Artificer.

Man, now I just want it to get here so I can see how it's all changed.

Also, really ask yourselves, if WOTC didn't also own MtG would they go out and license these settings for use in D&D? Are they being published based on the strength of their settings? This is marketing material they are charging you money for. Are they well done and useful to varying degrees? Sure. But let's be honest as to why this is being done.
It seems really strange to take the position that WotC using M:tG settings that it owns is a cash grab and marketing but WotC using TSR settings it owns somehow isn’t.

"Foes" vs. "Monsters" seems like you're setting a pretty low bar for them to clear, creativity wise.
True that! And yet the latest creative team at Hasbro's Wizards of the Coast could not even clear that low bar.

Instead, following in the traditions of corporate speak, they just fell back upon the safe approach of recycling. I guess synonyms must too difficult task for them to contemplate. ;-)

Jaapleton over at GiTP (who usually has a solid inside line) posted this a little bit ago

The reprinted five subclasses are as follows:

Order Domain (Cleric subclass from Guildmasters’ Guide to Ravnica)
Circle of Spores (Druid subclass from Guildmasters’ Guide to Ravnica)
College of Eloquence (Bard subclass from Mythic Odysseys of Theros)
Oath of Glory (Paladin subclass from Mythic Odysseys of Theros)
Bladesinging (Wizard subclass from Sword Coast Adventurer’s Guide)

Fey Wanderer and Circle of Stars are in.

Not sure if this is new info for people or not, but I'm liking it.

I agree with opening them up, but Eldritch Knights already get cantrips, and I don't think I want them getting, what, four cantrips by level 3? That is far too much magic.

But Cantrips for the others make a ton of sense.
