The new Sage

The new Dragon Magazine also seems to mark the passing of an era: Skip Williams is no longer the Sage doing Sage Advice.

Sage Advice in Dragon #323 is written by Andy Collins.

Further confirmation comes from Skip's latest "Rules of the Game" column: "Skip Williams keeps busy with freelance projects for several different game companies and has just completed an 18-year run as the Sage of Dragon Magazine."

Thank you, Skip, for the many years you've spent answering our questions!

And good luck, Andy!

Cheers!

That is oddly heavy news.

Cool for both Andy and Skip, but a weird paradigm shift for well... the Sage.

On wonders whether sage advice answers will continue to be included in the faq or not.

Wow...truly the end of an era. I think the Skip as the Sage is perhaps the single most long-lived aspect of the magazine (specifically speaking).

I can see why this would have happened though, as there must have been some complications on having something so closely-tied to the core of D&D being done by a freelancer. This may or may not have anything to do with a general feeling among people I've talked to that, in the last several years, Sage Advice has become unreliable, often giving different answers than the errata and customer service. Here's hoping Andy dispels that sentiment!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but - wasn't Gary the first Sage? Or has Skip done the column for the whole life of the magazine?
