The Newbie Guide to the Dark Sun setting

It's pretty clear that plenty of people "are hype about Dark Sun."

Aside from the "Ten Things" list and the minor details leaked via podcast, pdfs and DDXP stuff, where should a newbie go to start brushing up on his Dark Sun lore?

I started Eberron 4E by reading the Eberron Campaign Setting from 3.5 and I was wondering where to turn so that I can start running games soon, maybe even before the books come out -- possibly by converting adventures from Athas.Org into 4E mechanics.

I was even thinking of playing the old SSI Dark Sun games (Wake of the Ravager and Shattered Lands) though I dont think I have time and patience for it just yet.

I doubt it.

I'd probably have to do some hunting out of town to do that.

I live in the Philippines where pen and paper RPG retail and support is minimal at best, and most people are basically still using WoD and 3.5 materials.

First, if you have the internet (which you have prooved by posting) just look it up. And also be thankful that you dont have to use homemade wonky dice - only jokes ;)

I use my balisong to carve my own dice out of coconut shells. All Southeast Asians can do that, you know.

Kidding aside, yeah I know I can Internets it, but I meant a useful reference point.

I mean some people believe the first Spelljammer book isn't the best 'beginner's guide' to Spelljammer, so I want to know what book to buy, antiquateed sourcebook to torrent or which site to hit up and not have to find my bearings while I am awash in a sea of random Google hits to do it.

Best bet is the original boxed set. I wouldn't recommend using the "T" word around here, though - thems fighting words. I'm pretty sure the PDF is for sale somewhere.

But yeah, the original boxed set (or the revised, it's also pretty good) is a great intro to the setting.

Completely off topic but where in the Philippines?

On topic: If the product is still available in Amazon's, Fully Booked (A book store) is capable of ordering it there for you, if not you could always try hunting Surplus Stores, I recently found a Darksun Module there, only reason i did not buy it is because i have no playgroup.
