D&D 4E the Price of 4E

I hope this isn't true but I recently talked to the manager of very large and well known gaming store and he has been hearing from distributors that 4E will be priced in the $50/book range.

Ouch! If that's the case, I'm not sure I'll be buying. :]

Hmmm. Well that certainly doesn't match with the info on Amazon, or the info that's been dropped by WOTC so far.

I don't think Amazon is all that accurate, so I wouldn't put too much stock in that price. I for one hope that the Amazon price is the correct one though.

Add to that the hundreds of dollars Mac users would have to spend, to purchase the Windows OS to run the D&DI.

At least D&DI isn't required to play the game. Still, I feel your pain. :heh:

I will have to drop buying any and all supplements for a $50 per book price range. I've already had to drop to buying 1 or 2 minis packs per quarter when the price hit the $15 range. If I like what I see, I MIGHT buy the first three at that price, but that would be all.

I think for add-on books a price range of 35-50 bucks is reasonable but core books in that price range I think is bad.
Personally Im not going to pay more than 30. Even if I where going to get 4e Amazon would have been where I got my books from.

That would be idiotic. One of the driving forces in many changes seems to be to bring in new players. That price point excludes pretty much every kid on the planet, not to mention those of us in the working world. If anything, the PHB needs to be cheaper. They need to "give away the OS" and hook them in, and then sell them all the supplements. If that is the price point, we'll not be upgrading at all.

I really, really doubt that that guy knows what he's talking about.

That said, if it somehow turns out to be true, I'm not buying jack squat. I'll just look at the SRD and download the art from the art gallery on Wizards' website. Assuming they continue to post it.
