The Problem with Matrix-Reloaded !!

Hello all you ENWorlders and welcome to any visitors,

I have a problem with the ending or shall we say near ending sequence of the Matrix-Reloaded. That old geezer in the chair with all those screens or VDU's if you prefer, seemed to be rabbiting on about all sorts of stuff regarding past Matrix experiments and past Neo's and failures and general "it has been done before stuff". However I do not understand how a computer program, even as sophisticated as this one, could predict the random acts of Human beings actions via their own minds. At the end of the day all the un-saved humans are in the Matrix living out their lives oblivious to the "program" that runs or simulates their entire existances. Now if you get your head around this then fair enough, but as the old geezer states in his chair, with complete smugness, the original Matrix was too perfect and failed as humans could not accept euphoria and an "Eden like" existance, so they opted for a more realistic approach based on todays life styles and violence etc...but if this is indeed so, then how come there have been a further 6 failures with some humans escaping the Matrix and deciding to kick butt, didn't the programmers learn from their past mistakes and errors ? Also, If "Xion" (the last free human city) has been destroyed before then how come the "Elite" few were able to save more humans again the second time, third time, fourth time etc..round. If you destroy something of that magnitude then surely there should have been a halt in the "Emergence of Sentiousness" of the elite few to start re-building "Xion" again. And Finally, what was up with Agent Smith no longer being part of the Matrix security "Programs" any more. If he is not a security program then what is he ? Is he a virus ? attacking everything ? or is he a "Worm" infiltrating the inner sanctum of human conciousness. Hope someone out there can explain the ending to me a little more and shed some light on the Matrix-Reloaded ending sequence. Oh I nearly forgot...what was up with "Neo" and his powers emerging into the "Real World" right at the end when he destroys those Sentinals. A good film, great fight scenes(the park scene rocked and I reckon Neo had "Epic Level Great Cleave") and well thought out but I think a little confusing and tring to be too much of one thing and not enough of another.....cheers for any forthcomeing advice or comments. I would really like to understand the ending a little better.....bye for now.

Thanks for the tip, Morpheus !!!

Well I have to say that I am awed by the response and clarification found on the above thread originally started by KChagga on 05/16/03. My thanks go to you Morpheus for directing me there, to you KChagga for starting the thread and to all the other enworlders who posted replies (5 pages in all) especially Ashrem Bayle with that brilliant explanation of the Architects speech at the end of Matrix 2. Thanks again one and all.
I will now print off all replies and badger my friends and relatives to death with the suggestions, critiques and general responses and see if I can "Enlighten" them on the real meaning of the the Matrix movies.;)

One little question: why do you assume humans act randomly?

Irrational, illogical, but not random.
