It isn't really a remake, though, as much as a movie version of the musicals version of the movie.

Which they then plan to make a play about in a few years.

Which then gets made into a movie.

Which will get a video game.

That spawns a sequal.

That will be made into a musical.

And a movie.

And...

I hate this movie. The fact that I first saw it when I was still living in Poland, and that the humor didn't hold up in translation at all probably has something to do with it... without the laughs, the whole thing becomes supremely distasteful. (though to be honest, I don't find Mel Brooks all that funny even in the orginal English)

I haven't seen it myself, only that there's a version on stage in Toronto.

What part are you from?

I loved the original; one of my favourite comedies and my favourite Mel Brooks movie. My mother saw the Broadway production of The Producers and loved it. I'd be interested in seeing its latest incarnation.

Plock. (A small city of ~150,000, roughly 80 miles north of Warsaw, on the Vistula)

I was born in Toronto, and live in Ontario, but my family's from around Sanok, another small town of about... I don't know how many people about 90km south from Rzeszow, I think. I can't remember.
