The Punisher 2 (2006)
http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0450314/

Plot Summary: Frank Castle, former Marine and FBI agent now turned dedicated vigilante, begins a path of destruction through violent criminals across the country. After Castle kills a powerful mafia don, a previously exiled under-boss named Billy Russo returns to New York. Russo (eager to take control of the criminal underworld) convinces the remaining mob leaders that he can kill Castle, AKA the Punisher. The struggle turns in to a three-way battle when FBI agent Stephanie West aims to take both Castle and Russo off the streets.

Thomas Jane is already listed as coming back to play Castle, but it IMDb doesn't list any other actors yet.

Cheers!

Cool, I thought the Punisher was actually an enjoyible action movie and it turned out a lot better then I'd have hoped.
Ditto here. I know that a lot of people hated the Punisher, but I actually enjoyed it quite a bit and bought the DVD. Still, I feel a little sad whenever I watch it because I know that it could have been a lot cooler if the studio hadn't given the filmmakers a tiny budget and an extremely restrictive shooting schedule.

It does look like the Punisher 2 will take place in New York City, which will make it more true to the comic books (according to the featurettes on the DVD, the reason the first one was set in Tampa was because filming movies in NYC is very expensive and they just plain didn't have enough money).

It should also be noted that the description listed above names the main villain as Billy Russo. In the comic books, Billy Russo gets his face torn to pieces during an encounter with the Punisher and becomes known as Jigsaw (because his face resembles a jigsaw puzzle). Jigsaw is one of the few recurring villains from the Punisher comics (as very few villains survive their encounters with the Punisher), and could be considered the closest thing that the Punisher has to an arch-enemy.

The Dolph Lungren version was better. For the Punisher he sure didn't do much Punishing in the new version. It had one good scene at the end but that was about it.

I went into the first not expecting much and came out loving it. It was just a good fun action flick. Can't wait for this to come out.

I liked the movie first movie. The only real problem I felt it had was that it didn't quite live up to the other Marvel movies. When you go into a film expecting it to be able to stand alongside Spider-Man, the X-Men, etc., then just being "likeable" isn't enough. I hope they give this one more to work with.
