The Retaking of Forgehold - 4E

OOC: I'm sorry, I should have clarified. I will also catch the opporunity to ask you what measure of metagaming bothers you, as I find it's different for different dms. For example, what would inexperienced adventurers know of relatively common monster like kobolds? Do they know they're good with traps? Their typical behaviour pattern? That they're generally nimbler than though? That they're not very intelligent?
Anyway, the kind of knowledge that Arden would think of in a situation like this would be, what kind of traps they're likely to have placed and where it would be best to actively look. General tactics. General weak points. Hints on traces of kobolds dwelling as in Mira's commen. Stuff like that. I'm not really sure how much Arden would know about kobolds without a check, that's why I rolled.

OOC: Use your own judgement. Do a take 10. 10 is stuff like kobolds are small tricky lizard people. 15 gets more details. 20 is like a light field guide to kobolds. 25 is a Kobold Expert.

"Maybe they lives underground and do only excurtion outside to raid... but I agree I would have expected more activity around."

OOC: ok, I get the idea. I'll keep the monster manual at hand. Is something like this alright?

We should stay alert. According to my studies on savage humanoids, Kobolds aren't very intelligent, but they're sneaky. And they like placing traps. They're small, so we should take advantage of their light frame, but theyre very nimble. Arden explains in a low voice to the party while starting to descend the stairway.

"So they're like me, but uglier and dumber?" Mira asks Arden, grinning. "Yea, there are signs of them and all, but there aren't like any guards or nothing out here. Its weird. Maybe they are just concentrating on traps or something to let them know when company is coming over?"

The blondish girl reachs into her pack and pulls out a sun rod, figuring that the light will be important down in the tunnel. "I have another for when this one goes out. Between the two of them we should have enough light to get the job done...I wouldn't mind if someone else wanted to carry it though. I need to use both of my hands in a fight. Maybe Arden or Angel could carry it if you don't neeed both of your hands for your magic?"

I will take your sunrod, lady Mira. But please, don't think I'd ever suggest any kind of closeness between you and those vile creatures says Arden while taking the magical rod and also taking out his mystical orb. Being prepared never hurts.

"Subtle isn't reallyany part of what we are tryingto do, so we might as well use the light so we can all see while we do it." Mira says, handing over the rod to Arden. So who gets to go down the hole first?"

OOC: our earlier discussion didn't cover a 2 square corridor. Lets go with Mal's idea of 2 defenders in front, Arden and Mira in the middle, and Aelek and Angel last

-''Oh, seven hells, I sure won't take the rear in something so narrow. If damn kobold rush us by surprise, which they will, I'll be stuck in the back throwing stones and insults. All right folks, let's get ready to earn ourselves some gold. Remember the golden rule ; If it looks like I'm about to get overwhelmed by enemies... save me!''

Mal walks down the stairs and into the corridor, on guard, shield ready and with a handaxe drawn. He whispers a quick prayer to Kord as he steps into the den.

[sblock=ooc]I'm not going to endlessly roll perception check. Just assume I'm on guard, watching where I step. Perception +2, passive 12. Please roll for me if appropriate.

I expect Mal is walking inside with a light source, either because the corridor are lit, because Mira is at my back with a sunrod or Arden cast a light cantrip. He will of course never step forward without seeing at least 3 square ahead! Whenever that happens, Mal gruffly berates people for not keeping up.[/sblock]
