The Retaking of Forgehold - 4E

Mira cautiously follows in her brother?s footsteps, ending up behind him (B5) with one of her recovered shuriken in her hand ready to be thrown at anything that comes into the torch light looking harmful.

Angel follows the group closely and stands in the back, ready to blast anything that looks short and scaly (or whatever creature who would want to rip our faces off :P)

((OOC: The "Rocks" are sarcophaguses. The "Refrigerators" in the niches are suits of armor.))

As you start looking in the darkened room, Telsayn throws the scrap of Bread, and the light reflects against the eyes of some creatures hiding in the darkness. They take advantage of your disorientation in the darkness to quickly charge into the light and strike.

The one who god away hurls another ceramic globe at Telsayn. (1d20 6=15, 1d6 3=9) The glue congeals at his feet, but the dragonborn is free.

One charges Telsayn, hoping to strike the warrior before he unleashes his breath. (1d20 10=19, 1d8 1d6=11) He deals Telsayn a wicked blow! ((11 hp))

Faced with a choice between the armored target and the softer one, the cowardly kobolds strike out at Mira. (1d20 11=20, 1d8 1 1d6=14, 1d20 11=17, 1d8 1 1d6=10) ((14 hp)) The one on the left savagely pierces her shoulder. A savage blow from the other scrapes your clothing but you narrowly avoid greater injury.

Mal is the only one with his wits about him. You may strike back before anyone else.

((OOC: I've already rolled initiative. I need mal to react before we can go forward. I've corrected some math, I added +2 instead of +1 for charging. Correcting that made Mira bloodied instead of dying.))

Immediate response from DM:
You can't use an action point in surprise round and the map is gonna be a little different by your initiative.

OOC : So it's still surprise round. I just thought that I had won initiative on regular round but that the kobolds had beaten everyone else : Surprise round - Me - Kobold - the rest of paty.

In that case, Cancel the action point, all I did was push back the kobold from B6 to B7, I took his spot by moving to B6 but the kobold on C6 isn't Marked. Sadly. I'll edit.

Arden ; sorry about messed up area effect. Mira is wounded and I wanted to make sure she wouldn't get attacked twice before getting a chance to act.

Mira : Heads up on a chance to flank during the next round. Let me know if you want me to help set it up.

Aelek : Mira, really, really needs a word of encouragement right about now.

A dart flies out from the suit of armor as you move into the opening you knocked the kobold out of. (1d20 8=25, 1d6 2=3) ((3 hp)) You are immobilized by the pain of the injury as the barbs embed themselves in you

The kobolds react before any of you can attack back. ((Three beat your initiative. The other two will go after your initiatives.))
The kobold Mal already knocked back strikes out at Mal. (1d20 7=10, 1d6 3=4)
Mal swings at the kobold as it tries to disengage. (1d20 8=18, 1d10 4=14)
The kobold regrets trying to slip away, but still slinks into the darkness to lick his wounds. ((Standard, minor shift, move))

The other Skirmisher jabs his spear at Mira. (1d20 6=23, 1d8=1)
The wound is superficial, and seeing the anger in the eyes of the human who looks a little like this human, also slinks away before the big one's attention is on him. he scampers between the two rows of sarcophagi and scoots into the darkness on the other side.

The third Skirmisher looks for an opening in Telsayn's armor. (1d20 6=8, 1d8=3) His attack find no purchase and seeing none of his allies near him, he disengages from Telsayn. He runs straight north, dissappearing into the darkness.

((OOC: Skirmishers: AC-15, F-11, R-14, W-13))
((OOC: Slinger: AC-13, F-12, R-14, W-12))
((OOC))
Angel,Mira,Arden,Aelek,Mal,Telsayn
(1d20=17, 1d20 6=13, 1d20 4=13, 1d20 3=14, 1d20 1=10, 1d20-1=7)

Angel, Aelek, Arden,
Mira, Mal, Telsayn
Then the Kobolds.

As usual, red circle is bloodied, blue circle is immobilized, I've added a color coded square for marks and quarries and curses.
((/OOC))

OOC : Ouch, remind me to buy a shield, too bad bucklers don't exist. Hopefully I can act before I die. I don't suppouse they opened themselves to any OAs in getting to Mira?

Does Mira get to make an OA when Mal slides the skirmisher away from the square adjacent to her's? Or when the other kobold attacks her then runs away? Her quick-draw feat lets her draw a weapon as part of her attack so any OAs would be with her short sword. I am also curious about the attack she readied before moving into the room, would it going off haved stopped the +1d6 the skirmisher got?

OOC : Sadly no, it's a push so it doesn't provoke.

Damn, these kobold are fast and shifty makes it hard to tie them down. Perhaps Arden should should use sleep. It would slow them for at least a round at worst and that would allow us to really tackle them.

We really need to chase them before they can hide. The reason they did so much damage to Mira is their sneak attack. We can't give them combat advantage too often.
