What? Hey, don't edit after I have read the post. I didn't go back and now I missed a drinking contest! Damn.

But tacticly talking, if we have to walk in line, I would not put a ranged rogue in second, I would rather put a melee guy in second to support the guy in front if needed. So either Aelek or Tesalyn.

Umm, I keep saying that Mira is not a ranged rogue. All 3 of her at will powers are melee (though sly flourhish is great for both), her encounter power is melee, and her daily power is a close blast so it definitely can be used in melee as well. She can function up close or ranged, though she has many more options when she uses melee attacks.

If we don't want a straight line,

AM- Aelek + Mal
AAM Angel + Arden + Mira
-T- Tesylan

this way no defender will ever be more then 2 squares from the front (and he can just move through allied squares). Tesylan can breath if we are back attacked or he can move to the front and breath. Arden is as protected as possible. and the strikers can attack to the front or back with their ranged attacks, and Mira can still move forward to flank if needed.

Yeah I think this is for the best in an open environment. I'd say A-M
AAM
-T-
though. Doesn't it cover more squares?
But are we sure we're not going to fight in dungeon-like caves? We're facing kobolds after all. We can change on the fly when we see the environment anyway.

This is a short build plan for Arden for the next few levels. Any suggestion is appreciated.

Lvl 2: +1 to all defenses
+1 to attack
feat: Human Perseverance
Utility: Shield
Retrain: Freezing cloud daily for Acid Arrow

Lvl 3: Encounter: Icy Rays

Lvl 4: +1 to all defenses
+1 to attack
+1 to Intelligence and Charisma
Feat: Skill focus Arcana

Lvl 5: Dailies: Web, Stinking cloud OR Bigby's Icy grasp
Rituals: Enchant magic Item (if not researched already), ??? (I'm not sure)

Lvl 6: +1 to all defenses
+1 to attack
Feat: Action surge
Utility: Dispel magic OR Dimension door

If everyone else agree, I will follow, but I still don't see the point to have Mira in front of Aelek in the line formation. Even if she is a melee Rogue, she still have good options for ranged attack with her high dex and Sly Flourish.

Wolheart have just no option for range, have better AC, more HP and is less mobile then Mira. Also, his Viper's Strike make it a good companion for Mal to hold a line still while Angel and Arden shoot over our head while Mira can position herself for a sneak. Keeping Wolfheart just behind Mal seems logical to me.

Now, if you add roleplay in it, like little sister cannot leave his big brother alone, that's something I can't argue against.

I think it's fine with Aelek in second rank. I think it's actually fine either way. The lack of ranged options is indeed an issue. Flanking on the other hand may be slightly slightly harder for mira...
Meh, I've never played in such a large group, I'm sorry if I look like I agree with everyone at the same time ^_^

with Aelek in the middle he is close to both sides at the same time so he is as useful if we are attacked in the back as in the front. Ideally we wont ever be in a single file line so it wont matter, but if we are, having a defender with a ranged attacker immediately behind them gives us at least 2 people to immediately attack, maybe more. Mira is behind the front defender because she has less range with her shuriken than Arden and Angel have with their spells, and hopefully we get attacked from the fron letting all 3 cut loose ranged while Mal holds the enemy in melee.

Single file will never be good for 6 though so we have to do the best we can.

I can't believe I didn't notice this, but doesn't the party UTTERLY suck at perception? If I'm not mistake, the best we have are Telsayn, Mal and Arden at +2...wtf?!

EDIT:I was willing to take skill training perception in a few levels anyway. If there are no other options and with Gene's permission I might change that for Armor training or Improved initiative, though it will hurt a bit. I believe no one has a wisdom higher than 14 in the party anyway...

That's exactly the thing that make no senses in my head, as in 4th edition, there is no penalty to shoot in melee and your friends doesn't give cover to your enemies, so Mira in third position, can just as easily shoot and you are very unlikly to be out of ranged. Even Arden and Angel could shoot in the first round.

For the group formation, either Mal's or Arden suggestion in IC thread, I see no problem and give my vote to either.

For the line, I still think Aelek is a better option in second, but I'll go with the majority. Anyway, after the first fight starting in either formation, we will likely make adjustment as we will find weakness we don't see now.
