Mouseferatu, that was WAY out of line, but out of respect for the admins I will not explainh just how wrong you are or call you names, no matter how justified they are. PLease no one continue to flame. Admins, please bulldoze that post.

(BTW, buried in the article is another cool invention, robotic humvees with remote-controlled machine guns)

This thread will likely close soon, so for the record, I'm with mouseferatu. I was just looking past the reality of it, and appllying the thought process to games. My way of coping, I guess.

I actually think that 90-degree gun is fairly interesting. I'm not really sure how practical it would be, since if you're trying to fire around a corner, the target would have to be pretty close to the wall. I'm still waiting for bullets with missle-like guidance so as to track a target and be able to maneuver in flight.

Kind of like the Patriot Arrow. :)

Think about a vertical wall, though. Lay down on your back, put the barrel up over the wall, and mow people down. Ultimate trench warfare!

All I can say is that us Israelies are pretty inventive... :)

BTW, if you consider the routine for breaking into a room (as seen, approximately at least, at any SWAT or cop TV show) you'll notice the advantage of looking in around corners. This applies even more to urban fighting, where you can scan the street before entering it. That said, the rifle will not make thse operations risk-free, only slightly easier, and I am concerned it will be more difficult to fire in a "normal" manner. (The swivel may be a problem when all you want to do is point and shoot.) So I am not certain of its overall benefit.
Also, unique weapons mean unique maintainance requirements, so this weapon is not likely to be used except by special forces. It's just too costly.

As for the bulldozers - since this sways heavily into politics, I won't go there on these boards. I will only say that I don't expect this, or for this matter almost any, technology will change what is essentially a political conflict.

And as for Nautilus - it is actually rather well known in Israel. We have been waiting for it for quite some time. I'm glad it is apparently being developed; my understanding is that it is relatively close to being operational.

Yair - Israeli and proud of it.

Beats the heck out of the German (or Russian?) bent-barreled guns from WWII. For one thing, there's less of that pesky 'exploding and killing the wielder' that most soldiers are so dead set against.

Whatever happened to those trained gerbils the Israelis were using at the airports? Or just recently, the bomb sniffer pigs? I'm all for the use of humerous animals in warfare.

if people were really serious about war, what you would do is create rigger drones of little tracked robots that had machine guns on them.. then link them up to some twitch happy arcade junkie 12 year boy and watch as they mow down the enemy.. All you ahve to do is put a score meter on it.
