Following the richest man in the world's attack on Wizards of the Coast for two paragraphs in the 500-page celebration of D&D, The Making of Original Dungeons & Dragons 1970-1977, Elon Musk--who bought Twitter not that long ago--wants to know how much D&D's owner Hasbro would cost.

After the public sharing on Twitter of Jason Tondro's (who wrote the book’s foreword) private Facebook posts, Musk replied "How much is Hasbro?"

Hasbro's estimated capitalization is currently $8.71 billion, with $3.95 billion of debt.

It was on 21st December 2017 when Musk similarly enquired "How much is it?" before proceeding to make a bid for Twitter. He later tried to back out of the deal, but was forced to buy the platform for $44 billion in June 2022. Current estimates by investment firm Fidelity put the platform at a value 80% less than when he bought it, with a worth of only about $9.4 billion.

Legend
Hmm, I wonder what changed? On one hand, we have the Musk of a few years ago who was only known for electric cars which are a necessary step forward to prevent destroying the environment.

Then, a few years pass and he became known as a hateful bigot who considers his own child dead, believes in the Great Replacement Theory (bogus), has ruined a major social media company, broken every tech promise he made, treats his workers like slaves and hates regulations and unions.

Hum, this is a real head-scratcher, what could have possibly changed over the last decade?
A random cave rescue expert didn't sufficiently kiss his butt, everyone laughed and like a 90's comedian that bombs trying to use 30 year old material, he went for easier sources of praise while likely exposing deeply held but carefully concealed belief and privilege, combining these with a self-destructive 'sigma grindset' lack of sleep and self medication resulted in the mask-off disaster we have today.

And the celebrity/money worship nature of certain corners of the world and internet generating a massive feedback loop. Can't forget that. He says something stupid, they laugh, he learns saying stupid things gives positive attention, not like that jerk who wouldn't let him suffocate a child in a poorly made torpedo coffin.

Thanks to the class action lawsuit Hasbro might soon be worth alot less and cheaper for Elon to buy.

Mod Note:

The staff has been watching posting patterns, and have found that bald presentation of videos without supporting text is not a terribly constructive mode of discussion, tends to produce irritated responses, and tends to exclude from the discussion those who are not in a position or without desire to sit and watch videos to glean their content.

Going forward, we expect that if someone has something to say, or a point to make, they will say it themselves, and use videos only as supplementary material.
