The RPGA and Fourth Edition

Do we have any word on what's going on with the RPGA once fourth edition comes out? I've heard that Living Greyhawk is going away but beyond that I've not even been able to find rumours. I assume I'm missing something right under my nose, could someone point it out to me if that's the case? And if not, any idea what will be going on? I do hope it sticks around in some form or another, it really gives me a feeling of being in the same guild as other players (and especially other DMs!) and I'd miss it. Plus I'm still a few points away from getting my next level of rewards!

Yes, the RPGA is running Living Forgotten Realms starting with the preview mods at D&D Experience at the end of February.

There should also be another RPGA campaign that replaces Xen'drik Expeditions when that campaign finishes.

Living Greyhawk officially finishes up in June - but I believe you have until December 31st 2008 to play all the 2007/2008 adventures.

Living Forgotten Realms is happening for sure (after the release of 4th Edition). Some announcements have already been made:

and here:

More big announcements are going to be made at DDXP (ex-Winter Fantasy) mid-February.

So the RPGA are going into 4th Edition in a big way.

Hope this helps. :-)

That is very helpful, thank you very much! So how would one go about getting in on this without going to Gencon? The same as with 3rd edition LG or will I have to try something new?

You could go to the two other big conventions with D&D content: D&D Experience, and Penny Arcade Expo (PAX).

D&D Experience is on the east coast (Arlington), and PAX is on the west coast (Seattle).

Or patiently wait as I will for home games to become available. :)

Bruce, I'm interested in what strategies the RPGA has for Living FR this time around considering that last time it became something of an abomination with silly names etc.... Will the leadership be ensuring that it doesn't become an unfunny parody once again?

Or even a funny parody...can we make sure living realms stays off the silly map?

A lot of announcements for LFR will be at DDXP at the end of next month. So things will be a little clearer (as well as the regions announcement). I know LFR has a very dedicated and serious staff on-board already working on things. Their plans are for a serious plot driven campaign that moves things forward. Now having said that I'm sure on occassion there will be a funny adventure that is not saving the world from disaster 'X' but I do not expect the level of silliness of past FR campaigns.
