The satire thread (2 cents)

I think its pretty sad that the satire thread about the folks over at WotC was closed. It demonstrates a tendancy I have observed of late to come down regularly against those who speak out against WotC or the current edition of the game rather than neutrally enforcing the community policy. In many such threads the line is crossed first by those who support (often blindly) WotC or the current edition of the game yet that is often overlooked and it is the opposing view which is singled out and disciplined. I understand that people are happy that WotC is posting here and I am too, but I don't think it should merit a biased form of censure which lately seems to be the case.

2 cents delivered.

Heuh... Last time I was here (and I admit it was four years ago), creating a thread about a closed thread was against rules. At very least it should be created in Meta, not in General, and even that was a bit off...

Anyways, maybe I'm wrong and rules have changed while I was off.

Anyways too, I disagree with you, IMHO people are allowed to criticise, it was ad hominem attacks that got the thread closed.

I'm pretty sure that if WotC really wanted to censor people, they wouldn't have opened a thread on their own forums called Doomsday Thread.

The thread that shall not be named wasn't satire. Satire is funny.

I've moved this thread to meta;

If you'd like to discuss the closure of that thread, please feel free to email me and I'll talk about it.

Cheers

Its not exclusivly about the closure of that thread its about an observable trend which started around the same time WotC began posting here in EnWorld. A trend where those who post about the current edition of the rules in a favorable light are given much more lattitude to bend or break the rules than those who post a contrary view.

I think what you're noticing isn't "Wotc is here so we are censoring." What you're noticing is "Dragon and Dungeon were closed and some people started acting like jerks when they got upset, and we got tired of it." I'll take a look, though, and the mods will discuss it.
