The Scale of Impact

Roger

First Post
"Impact" is a measure of a party's ability to change people's lives. It is defined by the following function:

Impact = 10 to the power of (party level divided by 3)

1st level: Impact equals about 2. The party could help out an old couple.

2nd level: Impact is about 4.5. The party could help out a family.

3rd level: Impact is 10. The party could help a large family, or a couple of smaller families, or a small group of people.

6th level: Impact is 100. The party might rescue a small hamlet, or a significant group within a larger settlement, such as all the worshippers of a particular god.

9th level: Impact is 1,000. The party could change a small town.

12th level: Impact is 10,000. The party could save an entire city.

15th level: Impact is 100,000. The party influences an entire region, such as a barony or a duchy.

18th level: Impact is 1,000,000. The party could establish or destroy an entire kingdom.

21st level: Impact is 10,000,000. The party could help numerous kingdoms, or a small continent.

24th level: Impact is 100,000,000. The party can affect every kingdom of a particular race, or a large continent.

27th level: Impact is 1,000,000,000. The party can literally save the world.

30th level: Impact is 10,000,000,000. The party's influence spreads across multiple worlds and planes.

I've found this a useful way to think about the scales of adventures and the differences between tiers. Comments are welcome.

An interesting way of looking at things however I'd start the rise to power at 1st-level with the 6th-level description :)
