The simple joys in life

I think so, too. I also think that you won't fall asleep if you keep thinking: I hope I fall alseep soon. Your conscience gets in the way of your subconscience.

Nah. I can normally make a deal with my subconscience: It stops yapping and lets me go to sleep - I'll let it fill my head with stupid random ideas while I'm meant to be working. :)

I'm sure there's a way to catch myself falling asleep. Heck, I've probably managed it before, just forgot by the time I wake up.

Me, too. And the strange dreams that come with having the flu. :)

Speaking of strange dreams, boy the nicotine patch sure does give me vivid dreams. I quit smoking like a month ago, but I don't want to get off the patch because I am enjoying my dreams so much!

Not only watching my sons and daughter sleep, but when they give you that special extra hard hug.

I also enjoy laying in bed with my wife laying her head on my chest and just listening to her breathe as she goes to sleep.

Staring out over the Pacific ocean, listening to the waves crash.

Listening to the wind blow through the trees.

Watching a lightning storm come up over the mountains in Verde Valley, Arizona.

Watch a river start to swell with water from the storm or snow melt.

Being on an upper floor of a tall building in Las Vegas at night, watching the lights of the city.

Riding rollercoasters, my favorite being The Beast at Kings Island in Ohio.

Seeing how huge the world is from the window of an airplane.

Smell of a good meal coming together.

Looking out over the land after a new snow fall.

Seeing your garden budding all of the future fruits you'll harvest from it. With no weeds in sight.

Running your model train through its newly built terrain.

Watching your kids have a blast playing in the ocean, with each other.

Seeing your child learn something new.

Watch your youngest stare in wondrous glee at the Great White Shark swimming by in front of him for the very first time.

Watching your daughter draw picture after picture, and see how much she improves every time.

Lots of others.

When my cat falls asleep in the crook of my arm when I'm in bed.

The smell of my boyfriend's hair.

The feel of a really good ink brush on smooth paper. (art geek, art geek!)

Fresh cupcakes.

The way the light hits the cathedral near my apartment at sunset.

Singing to my boyfriend as he's falling asleep.

And though I can't really do it often ...

<_<

>_>

.... lounging around nude. Seriously. It just feels great.

At the wizened age of 34, the following events are an occasion for simple joy:

1. My wife cooks . . . anything.

2. Beer in the fridge.

3. An hour or so on the bike.

4. It's an Order of the Stick day.

5. I drink myself to sleep. No dreams.
