The simple joys in life

I got to string up the hammock a few days ago... In the middle of a week full of sunny 60º-70º weather with gentle breezes. I climbed on in with a good book and a glass of limeade, and spent the whole morning alternately reading and dozing, while the kids played with the dog in the yard.

It was just the thing I needed after finishing off the 'Owl-shift' leg of my work rotation.

So many people have said silence. I don't really like silence. I like noise, but it has to be the right kind of noise. Rain on the rooftop, thunderstorms, wind in the trees, the crackle of a campfire. And, of course, music.

When you have a 3 year old, silence is golden. ;)

Hiking through the woods and listening to the sounds of the wildlife around.

Greatest simple thing I enjoy...Breathing!!

Having had two asthma attacks put me in the hospital in the past, I have to say breathing is my number one favorite simple thing!

I like beer, and I like cheese
And I like the smell of a westerly breeze
But what I like more than all of these
Is to be on horseback.

Not that I actually ride horses or anything.... or drink beer, for that matter. I just like the song.

Actually, I'd have to say sex and rock 'n' roll. I can do without the drugs. ;)

The one simple thing that I most commonly do, which never fails to fill me with peace and joy, is to stand next to my daughter's bed and watch her sleeping. There is nothing like that in the world.

That probably sounds cheesy but I'm telling you that moment is just golden.
