The State of ENWorld (too important to go to Meta)

I also haven't always found the treatment equal - religion-bashing posts get "overlooked" by the same mod who later closes the thread when someone else jumps in to defend it, for example.

As mentioned before, I'm not aware of anyone doing this deliberately, but give me a holler if you see it so that we can watch for patterns. No one is perfect, myself included, but we try to always be equitable and fair.

The folks who are/have been in your games are the "cool" people, and the "in crowd". I don't really see how you can claim that they're not...

Hmm, I disagree; people drawn to a single thread or forum by a common interest (pbp games, or Sep's story hour, or mine, or the rules gurus, or whoever) aren't intrinsically "cool" or an exclusionary clique. Rather the reverse, actually, in that they welcome other people with the same interest instead of being rude and turning them away. There was one rules person who this wasn't the case for, but that's been dealt with by moderators.

Let's face it, the one thing worse than a clique is a clique with special priviliges in what they can get away with. As far as moderation is concerned and using my SH thread as an example, have you ever seen any of those folks getting any sort of special treatment? The answer is hopefully 'no', as I try to enforce rules consistently no matter who is involved, but if I'm somehow slipping you should call me on it.

I still think there's a strong and positive sense of community here and I always feel welcome.

That's because we love you AND you produce good games! Nice combo, that. :D

For myself, I find that ENWorld is one of the best messageboards I have ever had the privelage of being apart of, in terms of information and community.

Although I wouldn't say I have become "buddy-buddy" with many people here, I am always impressed and grateful for the respect and maturity shown by nearly all the people who frequent these boards.

I went under a previous name before, but changed it due to my former DM reading my posts and either not liking what I was talking about or not offering to discuss things with me. This resulted in me posting less than what I would have liked.

However, once I went under this new alias (and left my former group), I found my interest in the messageboards (and DND in general) renewed.
