The Ten Best Feats

Alot of us wrote a rather long posts on this subject not too long ago. It would be nice if someone with the 'search skill' would dig up a link to that thread.

I don't remember exactly what 10 feats I chose then, but they are likely some of the following:

1) Improved Initiative.
2) Combat Reflexes
3) Close Quarters Combat
4) Spring Attack
5) Expert Tactician
6) Expertice
7) Spell Focus
8) Spell Casting Prodigy
9) Great Fortitude/Lightning Reflexes/Iron Will
10) Combat Casting

To a certain extent, all these feats are starting to become like MtG. Everyone seems to be trying to collect thier own game breaking collection of them.

1) Improved Initiative.

Nothing else compared with it for utility. At low-levels, you need to act before you get shot. At high-levels, you need to act before the enemy casters start laying out the Time Stop routine.

2) Expert Tactician.

Most useful when combined with the above, but generally very useful. It is 'quasi-situational', but you can create the situations.

3) Quicker than the Eye

The must-have for any self-respecting high level rogue. Near guaranteed sneak attack, every round. Sign me up.

4) Rapid Shot

Incredible usage for archers.

5) Cleave

Although its utility begins to fade at higher-levels, it's still a must for low-level fighters.

6) Iron Will

No fighter should be without it. Covers your main Achilles' Heel.

7) Precise Shot.

No need for explanation.

8) Combat Reflexes

Although mainly useful when wielding only certain weapons, being able to make attack of opportunity whilst flat-footed is incredibly handy: especially when your opponents don't know about it.

9) Knockdown

Let's see: spend an attack tripping an opponent, get one back AND make him prone as a kicker.

10) Off-Hand Parry

Makes you as versatile for either defense or offense.

Notable Omission: The whole two-weapon school. Contrary to popular opinion, the damage dealt is inferior to a single two-handed weapon (work it through). The only advantage is the additional buckler. On the other hand, if Off-Hand Parry is added (see above) you get to choose between offense and defense very nicely.

These are in no particular order unless they say so otherwise.
1. Quicker than the eye (#1!, always #1!)(S&S)
2. Expert tactitian (no explanation, self explanitory) (S&S)
3. Hair trigger reflexes (when ya just HAVE to go first:D ) (QR)
4. Lightning Grab (got yer weapon, what are you gonna do about it?) (QR)
5. Riposte (...) (QR)
6. Contempitle Target (this is always fun:D) (QR)
7. Improved Sneak Attack (just more damage) (T&T)
8. Ranged Sneak Attack (Deep wood sniper anyone) (T&T)
9. Arterial Strike (If you die, at least they bleed to death) (S&S)
10. Quick Strike (Just some more attacks) (S&S)

These are all rouges feats because, of course, rouges are the best! :D

I agree:D

Uh... Dunno, shoddy list comming through.

  1. Improved initiaive:
    Dm:The bandits ambush you
    PC:My initiative is 31...
    Dm: Ok the ban....
    PC:No thats my modifier
  2. Flick of the wrist:
PC:Wheee, where'd that dagger come from?
  3. Combat reflexes:
    DM:They advance on you
    PC:I stick it to them...All!!
  4. Mantis leap:
    PC:HYYYYYYYYYYYAH!
  5. Enery Admixture:
    PC:My fire ball is cold!
  6. Spell thematic:
PC:And it looks like my mommy!
  7. Ahhh, don't know any more!
    [/list=1]

1. Improved Initiative - easy to get and just check how often people get this feat and you know it's the best one.

2. Spellfire Wielder - Infinite amount of abuse possible, if not strictly governed by DM.

3. Spellcasting Prodigy - easy to get and just plain unfair.

4. Large and in Charge - Fight a big monster with this feat, reach and Combat Reflexes and you'll never get near it enough before you die.

5. Persistent Spell - spells that last rounds/level were never meant to last all day.

6. Energy Substitution - ever notice how cone of cold use to be 5th level and lightning bolt was only 3rd...well that's no longer true. Especially important for sorcerors and those house-ruled campaigns where metamagic feats don't require a full-round action.

7. Spirited Charge - limited use but very, very powerful for those halfling dog-riders. One can end up charging every round, due to the fact that the mount and the characters use separate actions.

8. Combat Reflexes - a mean surprise against players who think they've won the initiative and can freely charge at that ogre.

9. Craft Wondrous Item - just look at what you can make! Most people can argue their way to let the DM allow for the creation of just about everything else through the use of this feat.

10. Rapid Shot - two arrows are always better than one, especially when you have a flaming bow and shocking arrows to go with it.

I don't know. A blush or Mascara might be preferred for some applications.

BTW thats rogue not rouge:)

I'd seriously suggest you rethink this one.

-2 to all attacks for a +2 AC bonus? And thats if you have the Ambi/TWF to go with it.

You are always better off with Expertise.
