The Treasure of the Tierra Padre... [Knight Otu Judging]

Gath

As they are getting ready to set up the camp and go to sleep. Gath looks at the surrounding forest and thinks he has a great idea. "Why we not sleep in trees? Me did that once to escape big bunch of howling dogs. Snake don't climb trees, right?"

If no one agrees with him, Gath will just accept to keep his turn of the watch. His darkvision might be quite useful here ...

OoC for Pbartender: I've discovered an error on my character sheet. I intended the character to be built with all class skills, but managed to mistake Spot, a cross-class skill, for a class skill. Would it be permissible to substitute Climb, a class skill for Bards (and yes, I've just triple-checked this!) for Spot before we continue? I realize that may not be the greatest strategic choice for the character for this adventure, but it fits the character concept better than the other in-class skills that haven't been taken, and more importantly, it fits the rules better.

Almayce dismounts clumsily. "Well, the sound may be caused by anything, though hearing the same sound two times definetly starts to sound like not a coincidence. But whatever it is, we can't see it for now, so let's just prepare for those snakes you mentioned. I don't have spells to cure poisoning unfortunately, so it might be best to avoid being bitten." When Gath mentions sleeping in trees, Almayce frowns, mostly from the thought of himself climbing to a tree. "You know Gath, I think that snakes are a bit better climbers than dogs.", he says as he gets his bedroll and goes to prepare the campsite.

OOC: That's fine by me.

The night passes quietly, with only the faint sounds of the forest animals to keep the sentries company. Late at night, Razier spots a pair of glimmering eyes within the darkness of the surrounding underbrush; undoubtedly its only an inquisitive fox or raccoon. Later yet, Rogier catches a glimpse of a large bat swooping through the tree tops.

The morning dawns bright and clear, though thin mist clings to the river bottom.

"Well then, this is much more promissing than last time. Let's eat something and get moving." Rogier says, happy that nothing special happened last night.

Stretching and yawning, Razir slips out of his bedroll and blinks against the morning sun. Unlike the previous day, the half-elf looks actually fit and refreshed.

"Well then, this is much more promissing than last time. Let's eat something and get moving."

A splendid idea, the rogue thinks to himself. Looking around at the gathered group he continues the thought in a hushed whisper. 'Wonder who'd do the cooking though. There doesn't seem to be an Inn close by.'

Rolling up his meager belongings and eyeing the dreary swamp that would be their goal this day, Razir scolds himself in his trademark rasping voice. 'Should have caught the nosy Raccoon that sneaked up on us last night. At least we'd have some freshly roasted bacon now before we head into this bog.'

"Not much baconfat on a raccoon", smiled Oirhandir. "The half-human is a curious one", he thought to himself. "It seems as if he has lived his entire life in the cities of men. Perhaps it will do him some good to see the rest of the world."

Oirhandir was no great cook, but he set about converting Rupert's provisions into the tastiest breakfast that he could. He put special effort into cooking up something that would at least remotely resemble bacon. While they ate, he quizzed Rogier about his plans.

"Rogier, will you need some help building a bridge across the millrace?", he asked. "Those logs you dragged across last time were -- adequate", he continued. "But I recall that you spoke of building something more serviceable the last time we were here. I was thinking that some of us could help strike camp and clean up after breakfast while others secured the crossing. How much help would you need?"

Gath

Gath seems to eat a few days worth of his rations in the morning. He also drinks a lot of his water to make it go down. "Me be hungry. Bacon tastes good but this stuff good too. Very dry but good." He says to Razir while chewing on a hard piece of salty meat. Once he's done eating, he goes fill up his waterskins at the river and joins the other as they get ready to head into the swamp. "So, big dragon lair in there? Me see only mud. Horses be good in mud?"

Edit (in response to Oirhandir): "Me help. Me strong, pull and drag stuff no problem."

'Indeed!' the half-elf replies with a satisfied grin, after washing down the last bit with a big gulp of fresh water.
'A splendid meal to start a successful day I'd say.'

Clearing his throat and wiping an almost-white strand of hair from his face, he faces the Oirhandir and Rogier.
'So.. as we speak of it. Do we have any clue on roughly where in this bog the dragons lair might be found.' gazing back at the swamp he notes with a dry chuckle
'It's a pretty big place, and a cave sunken and overgrown eons ago would be nearly impossible to find without some further information.'
