The Treasure of the Tierra Padre... [Knight Otu Judging]

Ignatious O'Reilly

Ignatious smiles. "Good idea, Oirhandir. And you are very brave, Rogier to take this step. With the rope on you, and Gath's enormous strength on this end, we should be able to pull you out of any danger you encounter. Furthermore, I am able to provide you with magical armor to replace your metal set. It is weightless and quite effective."

Iggy will cast Mage Armor upon the Paladin before he submerges.

OOC: Just for clarification... The ledge on the opposite side of the pool is accessible without swimming. I think we can presume that any searches have included that little bit of real estate.

Rogier... Was it your intention to swim across, or down to the bottom?

Given a minute, and a little bit of help, Rogier shucks off his scale mail and pack. Oirhandir comes back with a length of rope, which he ties around Rogier's waist as a life-line. The water is cool to the touch, but by no means frigid.

Rogier takes a few strokes to the opposite side of the pool, but finds nothing along the thin ledge and wall on that side. Taking a deep breath, he kicks his feet up and dives down underwater toward the bottom of the pool. It takes a few seconds to reach the bottom, but once there, all is revealed in the light oof the sunrod...

A handful of silver and gold coins are scattered here and there on the stony floor of the pool; it almost reminds Rogier of an under-used wishing well. Ahead of him, concealed from above by a rocky overhang is a wide tunnel that leads off in the general direction that Rogier previously sensed the evil aura.

OOC: I assumed that you also left your pack behind to save the encumbrance penalty. I also assumed that you were taking 10 on the Swim checks. Are you bringing anything along besides the sunrod?

OOC: It seems reasonable that Rogier will surface and report his findings.

"Well. An underwater tunnel entrance could explain why no one has found this place. It would be a risky swim, as we don't know how far it extends. Perhaps if we emptied our water skins and brought them with us as an extra air supply, we could swim further. I for one am no swimmer. And my spells are not much use either."

Almayce bites his teeth together. He's clearly frustrated. "I hate it when I'm right. Anyway, we could just give the end of a rope to Rogier and maybe to somebody else who can actually swim, and they could probably get to other side. That way, I and others from the swimming-crippled team could basically just drag ourselves there. If the tunnel is short enough of course."

Before returning to the surface, Rogier picks up a silver coin from the floor. He tells his friends his findings, gets out of the water and throws in the silver coin.
"Hyrag, please guide us" he mutters as he closes his eyes and holds his holy symbol in his hands.

Oirhandir listened to Rogier's account of the pool wordlessly. As Iggy and Almayce mused on how to proceed, he added, "Good souls, are you all sure that you want to do this before dinner? I'd rather plan this all out around a fire than here in this dank chamber."

"Dinner...", Almayce mutters under his breath, clearly not caring much. "That's fine by me.", he says in a normal voice.

*PLOOP!*

The coin flutters down through water, landing squarely on the overhang that conceals the underwater tunnel Rogier has found.
