The Two Towers Extended DVD review

Only one question remains: do I buy the Extended Version, or the Extended Version Collector's Edition?

I think I can probably live without the Gollum figure, but the completist in me is rubbing his covetous hands...

Yeah, I like my polystone Argonath, but the Gollum statuette isn't doing much for me. I'll probably go for the lower priced set...

I see NOTHING in the EE Collector's Set that would remotely justify the incredible increase in price.
What is it - 2 1/2 times more expensive than the "plain" 4-disc EE?

I got the FotR EE Collector's for X-mas, but damn - if I knew how little extra was in it, I would have suggested for them to buy the "plain" EE and save $40 bucks.

My EE of TFofR came with a free pass to see the Two Towers. Anyone know yet if the EE version of Two towers will come with a free pass to RotK?

I only got the 'regular' extended version of Fellowship as well, and I'll do the same with TTT.

Looks like a wiinner, but still waiting for all three before purchasing..
Do you mean you're waiting for a big, all 3 in one release on DVD? You might research it. My understanding is that these current extended additions are all we're going to get and the PJ isn't going to go through after these and do anything else.

That is my understanding as well. As I recall it PJ basically said that they weren't going to do an ultra-extended version of the films, as it would be a disservice to the fans who had already bought the extended editions.

It is quite funny to see people agonizing on the internet on how they are not buying the Extended Editions yet as they are waiting for the Ultimate Edition. The ultimate edition which is in my mind a product of their imagination.

And I'm not quite sure what else people expect? It would still require the same number of discs. Each film will have already been extended. We'll have a total of, what, 6 discs of extras? And each extended version comes in the same-themed box packaging (which is quite slick, IMO). I'm not sure PJ could put anything else in an Ultra-extended version that would be worth anything.
