To me it seems silly to shackle world builders to what WoTC deems to release. What has rules constantly keeps changing, WotC releases new stuff and on the other hand some things might not get rules in a new edition. A lot of people use the same setting for a long time.Find me stats.
And I the same. Strange that I am one of the most restrictive DM in my area and that I have a waiting list of 70+ persons waiting for a spot in my groups to free itself... That is why I do Friday Night Dungeons at our hobby stores. It enables them to ask questions and I can coach novice DM. Strangely, they emulate my playstyle which is restrictions to PHB races and subclasses. You are the DM. ACT LIKE IT. If you want to do restrictions that is great. But be prepared not to have higher player population base. And much whining. I am sick and tired of the idea of if the DM does not allow the Kitchen Sink, then they are an icky nasty DM.
That settles it! In my next games, I want to play a Klingon, a Twi'lek, and a Smurf. And you can't say no. Who's with me?

Only because it isn't what we've had for decades already...Strong and Big Race
Charismatic Race
Small Intelligent race
Good mix. Better that Dwarf, Elf, Halfling to me.

If it was, people would be complaining about Klingons, Twi'leks, and Smurfs now; and Dwarf, Elf, and Halfling would be the "good mix."![]()

No.
Klingons, Twi'leks, and Smurfs is better than Dwarf, Elf, and Halfling because Elf and Halfling are redundant as Dex/Agi races and Dwarf is a Con/Tough race and in D&D toughess is purely reactive and can't be leveraged for action.
Klingons, Twi'leks, and Smurfs have better active racial traits that are better leverages as adventurers and don't have overlapping aspects.
Agi? Thanks to urban dictionary I have some definitions, but I really doubt you're talking about he fondness they may have for gerbils.No.
