Authoritarianism is more efficient than democracy.
Nah...
Try this mix instead.
Democracy is at session zero where players and DM will discuss and agree on the optional rules to be used (or homebrew rules) and the general taste of the campaign.
After that, the DM becomes and authoritative jerk (that's me :) ) that will ruthelessly apply the rules democraticaly chosen.
I have been doing this since 1982-3 and I will not go back to anything else.

I was trying to be helpful no offence was intended.
I suspect the first article that came up in my google search used the wrong acronym. Not a big deal.

I've tried multiplayer games of different forms a few times, it's just not for me so I have no clue what the different acronyms are. I suffer from AOS (Acronym Overload Syndrome) anyway.

Bah, humbug. Apparently I hold my players in utter contempt forcing the drudgery of playing characters I've designed that must dance to my tune or suffer a fate worse than death. Somehow I retain players, apparently by some form of psychic mental control because my world is a gray malaise of stock boring tropes. If only I would see the light and allow all races, I'm certain that there would be a dawn of a new era and doves of enlightenment would fly out my posterior, bringing a new era of peace and cooperation.

Instead, I just practice my Snidely Whiplash laugh while twirling my mustache maniacally. Poor, poor players doomed to a tyranny of mediocrity. :devilish:

Probably not supposed to say this out loud.

That's the thing I've been arguing against this whole time.
That's not an opinion, it's a fact - why am I not supposed to say facts out loud? A single decision maker/top-down organization is simpler than a democratic/collaborative organization.

Efficient =/= Good.

LoL is a moba not an mmo

It was the "Lol" you started with IMO, it basically indicates you were laughing. Perhaps it was because it is an easy mistake to make? But it could easily be seen as offensive.

If it was "FYI", then I expect no misunderstanding would have happened. It is hard in text without the tone/ nuance of face-to-face.

This is demonstrably not the case. History is littered with authoritarians that were decidedly NOT efficient.

Worth noting is the sheer number of competent people that were sidelined or murdered for disagreeeing with a tyrant, and the sheer number of incompetent people relied on as trusted advisors simply because they had the tyrant’s ear.

Wait, I read that as Lol was the name of the game being discussed, it wasn't?
