The Unapproachable East

Gentlemen, the future of the Realms is upon us.

Check out that table of contents. This is twice as crunchy as Silver Marches. A huge stack of new races, feats, and prestige classes. This is a book for players as well as DMs to buy.

And I, for one, like it. I like regional prestige classes --- I'm already looking forward to the Thayan slaver [now THERE's an un-PC PC].

More importantly, it will sell better than a less-crunchy supplement like Lords of Darkness or Silver Marches. And I want to see more of these region books.

So..two topics.

1. New direction in the Realms region books --- good or bad?

2. What's the censored race? It comes before "Gnoll"...could it be the "Elf, Star" mentioned in character regions? Are "Star Elves" from Realsmspace or what?

Provided the latter chapters (the setting material) are substantial, that seems like a good balance of crunch and background. I enjoyed both Silver Marches and Lords of Darkness, but more regional PrCs and races are always a good thing in my book. Silver Marches in particular seemed a bit light on crunchy bits; with LoD, I didn't expect much in the way of new feats, etc.

I have no idea what the censored race might be, although assuming they didn't pull it out of alphabetical order, star elf seems like a distinct possibility. Never heard of them, though.

Edit: reponded to star elf comment.

I thought both books you mentioned were plenty crunchy. Looking forward to Unapproachable East, though, no question about it. :)

Interesting that Shou expatriate appears among the regions. I love characters from the edges of the campaign world...maybe some day there will be a Zakara or Kara-Tur book...

I'd like to see Halruaa too. I really got hooked on that reagion after reading councelers and kings.

I'm sure it'll be like crunchy peanut butter -- plenty of cream holding the crunch together.

So long as it sells (I'm buying) -- I'm hoping for a future 3E version of the Dalelands, Cormyr, or Waterdeep and they need the sales to encourage WOTC.

Say, we haven't had a strong city-based product for 3E have we? Not a WOTC, anyway. Come on, WOTC -- update City of Splendors!

Edit: Gah, spelling!

I loved the way Silvery Marches was done. But if they put a little more crunchy stuff in The Unapproachable East, I do have any problems with that. I am very much looking forward to it.

...and I would LOVE!!!!!!!!!! for WotC to do a Cormyr book.

The cencored race?...Not sure. I'll have to reread that sections in the FRCS book. That may give us an idea of what it is.

Given how much depth is built into the Realms, I hope WotC slowly releases as many regional sourcebooks as possible. :D

I'll pitch for my personal favorite, though: The Bloodstone Lands -- I love Vaasa and Damara.
