The very sporadic ever slowing game

"No more questions. I thank you for the information you have given me. Here's a little something for your time."

Talea reaches into her backpack and pulls out 5 gold for the guard.

"Go and treat yourself tonight."

Talea smiles at the guard then heads off to the inn to get a room.

ooc: I'm presuming normal monetary value in which 5 gp is a lot of money for someone to get from a stranger.

Yes it is.

"Thank you but I shall take this as an offering to the shrine when time allows. May Ehlonna protect you."

Talea passes by the town farm, that is currently being worked by a fewer villagers. None seem to pay attention to the elf. She continues onward past the shrine and the magic shop. The streets are busy and noise flows through the town. Most seems to be coming from her destination.

The inn is a three story building; to the side is a large stable with a few horses.

The inn’s door opens and a stumbling figure walks past you laughing a little too loudly. The clanging sound of glass bottles emanates from a large bag he is carrying. He will walk past Talea without a word unless she says something.

Entering the inn, you see the table seats are filled.

A muscular human jumps up suddenly screaming “Fools, none shall defeat me.” With that, he lifts up a great axe and begins making wide swings. A blow to the back of his head knocks him out cold before he can do any real damage.
The barmaids appear completely able to keep the patrons in line. Two grab him and toss him while the third with the club announces “Free seat.”

<I assume Talea still wants a room here. If so...>

The man behind the bar seems to be in charge here.

Talea will move past the drunk and dodge the one being tossed out. She will then move up to the seat, unshoulder her backpack and put it in front of the seat and then sit down unless it has been claimed already.

When the barkeeper asks Talea what she wants:
"I would like a room please. I would also like to know what you are currently serving as a meal in this fine establishment.

Current game time: 10:30am
Outside Temperature: 70F(The reason I posted this will make sense later)

The barkeep replies, “We still got some steak and eggs left if you want breakfast, else we got a smoked ham, cheese, and fruit plate. Both come with some fresh bread and both will cost you a gold piece. We got just about any drink you could want. As for a room, they are all booked for the night. Got a big competition going on at the coliseum tonight, but some should be available tomorrow.”
An old drunk, seating nearby, pipes in “The Arms has rooms but it also has hhhands.” He tries to laugh but is only able to release a series of coughs.
The barkeep continues “The Arms isn’t the place to go. One of those idiot brothers from that place just left. He sat here for an hour pouring everything drinkable down his throat, then told me he needed ten bottles of wine for a drinking contest he was about to have with his brother. He had the gold so I packed him up and sent him on his way. A copper says he’ll not make it back to the Arms without drinking three of those bottles dry.
A family that works the town plot might let you stay with them. People here are cautious of strangers, but you seem civilized and friendly enough. Course they’ll probably charge you heavily. Though I doubt you’d try this, sleeping at the shrine or the coliseum isn’t a good idea, the guards have orders to keep vagrants out of those places... by any means.”
His friendly tone shifts to one of business, “What will it be then ma’am?”

Talea hands the barkeeper a gold coin.

"I would like your lunch please."

Talea thinks for a moment while the barkeeper gets the meal she ordered.

"What can you tell me about this competition?"

After a response:"Would it bothered you if I meditated this evening in a corner of the common room?"

A tall man wearing platemail and carrying a shield and scythe on his back strides confidontly into the town. Behind him is a wagon with two donkeys pulling it.

OoC: Do the Reaper's hands have any agents or hideouts in this town?

An elf travels towards the guard, striding with confidance...

"Hello there good fellow..." Ghaleon stands tall infront of the guard, his clothes brightly colored and his face with the normal, graceful features of his race,"I am simply a traveler, a seeker of fortune, perhaps I wish to test my luck in your arena that I hear this town is famous of, is it not?"

Ghaleon runs one of his hands through his light blonde hair without paying much attention to the guard, "Say, you wouldn't happen to know where to find a good meal in this city would you?"

For Talea
A wooden cup filled with cool water is set down in front of you, followed by a tray with a thick slice of ham, two kinds of cheese, and a chopped apple and grapes. A small dish with several pieces of fresh bread follows. The steam rising from the bread carries the smell of honey. The ham is salty but quite good. The darker cheese has a spicy taste and the other is very mild. The grapes are sweet and the apple is tart.
The barkeep speaks to the hooded figure to the right of Talea (the old drunk is to her left and he looks like he is about to fall over), “I’m busy, Azoc, tell the lady about the coliseum. “
Azoc has been sitting silently since Talea entered. Now he pulls back his hood and begins to speak, “The competition at the coliseum tonight is a solo fight. Anyone can enter up to an hour before it starts. Winners fight winners till there is only one left. You lose if you die or yield. It costs 510gp to enter. 500 is for resurrection and some fools choose not to pay that part. The fights are as balanced as possible and more proficient warriors are not allowed to challenge a less skilled adversary. That means there are usually three winners a lower(lvl 1-4), middle(lvl 5-10), and upper(lvl 11 –lvl16). The prize for winning is a free week stay at the Sword and Cross and 300gp for lower, 600 gp for middle, and 900 gp for upper. These are not the annual championships, just some warm-ups really. There will be a team fight as soon as the singles finish. I have not decided yet if I will enter either; considering you are not from around here, I guess I should tell you that my team won the championship in the last annual event.”
Azoc leans forward a bit and whispers, “the barkeep probably won’t mind but the drunks might hassle you if you mediate here. You can stay at the Arms for two gold pieces but I cannot guarantee the drunks won’t hassle you there either.”
Azoc downs whatever concoction was in his cup and rises up to leave. Just before falling over, the old drunk wakes from his stupor long enough to adjust his position.

For Paskatoy
A low level acolyte was sent to Trenton days earlier to survey the situation for Paskatoy. He knows when you were to arrive and was supposed to be waiting for you at the gate but he isn’t here yet.

The guard looks up at you, “Greetings traveler, what is your pursuit?

When the conversation ends, the guard states, “If anyone gets trampled by that wagon, you’ll be in serious trouble.”

For Sollir
This is not the same guard Talea and Paskatoy encountered earlier, in fact he is a human. “Greetings elf. This is indeed Trenton, the home of the Grand Coliseum.”
A mischievous grin flashes over the guards face, “Best food in town is at the Open Arms Inn.”
