The Walking Dead 3.13 - Arrow on the Doorpost (spoiler alert)

I mean, notice how late the Gov's men were to the scene? Minutes after Daryl & Herschel were on scene and had done a sweep, they arrive. While he didn't do it, no reason why that sole vehicle couldn't have been part of a larger force.

Yah, that's what I was thinking. Since the Governor's men show up after the sweep, there's no real telling how many were actually present.

My point was less about the Gov's forces laying in wait, and more about them coming in waves.

Daryl detected nobody in his sweep- I'm confident here was nobody to detect. Yet there was a car that showed up. This could have happened with Merle's mission as well.

The Gov has the luxury of manpower. He could have waves of support, coming from any direction, at any time.

Either works - if Mearle and Glenn, say, came sneaking up and ran into some of the Governor's men, or if those men came in behind them, the end result is ugly either way.

I disagree that this was a "filler" episode; I saw the stage being set for the battle-lines being drawn. To me, the scenes between Herschel-Milton and Darryl and the other guy (can't think of his name at the minute) were quite poignant, especially considering the coming war.

I really enjoyed the episode (especially the song at the end of the episode...Fink's "Warm Shadow")...the next episode(s) are going to be quite intense, methinks.

I thought it was quite telling that the people can get along very well. It's the leaders who see each other as a threat and think war is the only possible endgame.

It's reminiscent of stories where soldiers from opposing sides come together due to rare circumstances and get along fine but have to return to fighting each other the next day.

To me this was a powerful episode and I'm quite surprised people see it as a filler.
