The Worst

Eldritch Knight from the DMG takes the cake as the single most boring PrC ever. Frankly, I really don't care whether it's more powerful or not, I'd rather take Spellsword for the Fighting/Magic User PrC angle.

UnHonorable Mention:
Those 2 three-level PrC's in the BoED suck. Only reason they exist? Bonus Exalted feats. Lame reason for a PrC.

The Mountebank from the Book of Fiends. Flavorful description, boring as hell abilities and progression.

The Exemplar. Yeah...

How could anyone pick oozemaster or cancer mage as worst class? Most physically repellant maybe, but interesting concepts w/ odd abilities not easily emulated by other classes or feats. My most hated prestige class is would have to be the Archmage. Not because its the worst balanced, though it is extremely powerful.. it just makes no sense as a class... a wizard at very high levels is almost by definition an Archmage. Its not a concept that needs a prestige class for it, not an organization, just something many feel is neccasary to take to get a true high level caster. All its abilities can be adjusted into high level feats if neccasary. Blah.. my dislike of this class is high; I'm such a softy letting one of my players take it.

Another one: Duelist. Many of whose abilities don't work in armor (not even light armor). Who needs an intelligence of 30 to make up for this, and even so, only at high levels. Riiiiiiiiight. Also in the DMG. I mean, this one was so bad, that Wotc made up a new core class in complete warrior (swashbuckler) that actually isn't that great but absolutely *shines* compared to the Duelist, so people don't notice as much.

Edit: and please notice that the picture of the duelist seems to have her in light armor. Even SHE knows that she sucks without armor. :)

Is the duelist really that bad? My girlfriend was going to have her 13th level rogue take this class next level!

Cheers

How about the Heirophant? Kinda like the Archmage, except the archmage gets, y'know, spellcaster levels, while the Heirophant gets abilities that REALLY don't make up for not having spellcaster levels. That's outa the DMG.

Oh, the Hierophant gets spellcasting levels. Just not the increased number of spells and higher spell levels that normally comes with the spellcasting level.

It's arguably better than the Archmage - for games that intend to go past 20th level.

I stand corrected as to the exact reason why the Heirophant is a lame prestige class. It might be alright as an epic class, when there is a cap on increasing spells per day anyhow, but I hate epic rules for a whole different set of reasons which would take us off-topic.

If you love her, stop her from this folly. Swashbuckler would be better. Heck, *rogue* levels would be better.

Gez: It's Ghaunadaur, not Ghaunador ;) *nitpick*.

I can't believe nobody has mentioned the Hulking Hurler yet. Stupid concept, poor execution, and brokenness par excellence besides.

Dishonorable mention (thanks Pants! ;)) goes to the Exotic Weapon Master for blandness, as well as to the Horizon Walker (anyone *ever* played one of those?).

I gave it serious thought, for the darkvision. I was a human in a party with two dwarves and a half-orc.

Then we lost a couple of players, and got a couple of others, so there was only one dwarf with darkvision in the party... and so I nixed the Horizon Walker idea.

I've always kinda liked the Horizon Walker and would love to play it sometime. One of my current chars was going to go for it but found he needed some oumph as a mounted combatant. Ended up going a different direction. I'd still love to use it someday.

Frenzied Berzerker. I've never been able to see the point in having someone in your party that will start attacking you if the battle ends quickly. Or will attack you if they get hit by an trap, or any number of other sources of damage. It just doesn't seem suited to be part of a party.
