Just wondering if anybody's heard anything more about these since the DS Campaign Setting was released - I remember there was talk of themes being added for other settings, but I don't remember there being any official word on that?

Additionally, anything about the CB and cross-campaign compatibility, allowing existing themes to be used with FR or Eberron games for example?

For the record, I did use the search function, but I'm on a terrible connection so it doesn't work very well for me. Apologies if this has been covered somewhere.

I don't think there has been any official word on this. Speculation aplenty, and of course you can houserule them for any game (modulus difficulties with CB on that).

Last I heard Champions of the Heroic Tier is where they were going to be introduced for the rest of the game. It was scheduled for this summer I think.

Campaign cross-compatability is also turned off, so you can't slap a DS theme on your cleric.

But the CB online still has most of the other DS options available for everyone. So you can still make a mul warpriest in a "homebrew" setting.

But, you can't give that mul warpriest a theme in the CB itself.

This. (It was scheduled for June/July something like that).
Though, that title seems to have been pulled from the WotC product listing as well as Amazon.
Your guess is as good as anyone's as to what will happen. But for now, I have convinced myself that they'll repackage it with a different title.

...Yeah, I know. That's kind of why I was asking if we knew anything about when these things were expected to change, or if.

I wasn't aware of the Heroes book having been scheduled (and pulled), so thanks for the information everybody.

Well, if using DDI, that is true. If using pen and paper, why not? The themes are excellent.

I don't think the OP specified DDI only.

Non-DS themes are in the works, and, presumably, will be able to be added to non-DS characters. In the works as in "soon." As in, don't hold your breath, but they're coming.

I'd believe that, at that point, you'll be able to add DS themes to other characters.

But I really don't know. It's quite possible that they'll keep that wall up -- DS themes for DS characters, FR themes for FR characters, Eberron themes for Eberron characters, etc. I don't know why they would, but they haven't mentioned anything about changing that yet that I've seen.

Themes are amazing as a concept. The Third Pillar of Character Creation. The sooner they release them from the Dark Sun holding pen and into the wilds of mainstream 4th edition, the better.

I look forward to more official ones coming, and in the meantime: houserule, houserule, houserule.
