Curses! I will get you Henry and Eric Noah, if that is your real name, I almost slew a box-office analysis thread!

No harm meant, and given the movie I think it was a valid question to ask... although perhaps not for these boards. Thank you for the honest (and well restrained :)) replies, though.

In a lighter vein, I am looking forward to the movies that are slated to come out in this summer. Personally, I have felt a surge of quality in movies over the last 3 years and while part of me hopes that this is a permanent shift in production quality, the other part is reluctant to see it as something other than a high-water mark, soon to fall back.

Oops. Let me say what a slow June movie month. Shrek 2 did start last month. Except for Spider-man, Riddick, and the Terminal there is nothing I want to go to the movies for that start(s)ed in June. There should be at least a half-dozen films each month I want to go to the movies to see over the Summer. This summer I have half that each month that I want to go see.

Saw the Terminal last night(and got me some midnight showing tickets for Spidey while I was there). I thought it was great...but really, this month has only been Riddick, more viewings of Shrek 2, Terminal, and Spidey for me.

Now that I consider impressive, but doesn't change the fact that first place with $22 mil isn't, which was my point.

Yeah, but I saw a statistic to the effect that $22 million is almost half of what *all* documentaries made, combined, back in 1998. Their revenue has, I think I recall, tripled since then, with Fahrenheit obviously the heavyweight. So in a way, that's evidence that this movie is a powerhouse when you consider that it is smashing previous achievements by a documentary. Of course it's not going to compare to Spiderman. Documentaries don't.

I saw it, liked it. But another recent documentary, The Corporation, was much better IMO.

:D So, will Spiderman's box office take be double on all the other movies in the top 10 list...I think so. ;)
Having just gotten back from Spidey...I can say that YES it will. At least, as many times as I hope to go back it had better! ;)

Yeah, even just counting Fri-Sun. May have even come close for the first two days (I've only heard about Wed so far).

Problem is you're comparing it to other documentaries, I wasn't. For a documentary it has done insanely well, in general it hasn't.
