Nothing in the definition of the word "documentary" indicates that it need be objective. For that matter, there's no such thing as an objective film. A documentary is a non-fiction film: which facts are presented and/or highlighted is always up to the documentarian.

I agree, there's no such thing as true objectivity. However, Moore isn't criticized for his subjectivity... rather, it's his manipulation and misrepresentation of the facts that are the problem. Especially with Bowling for Columbine, you can see where it goes way beyond simply presenting facts that support his views.

It's a shame, because despite my dislike for the man and despite my disdain for the way he makes movies, I do agree with some of his views.

I didn't even look at that. I saw Shrek 2, and that's it. The only other movie I will try to catch at the theater is The Terminal . What a slow movie summer.
