Time to keep track of the movies I see this year but think I will do it a different way...anything I go to that I feel is a waste of time is a 5 or below, 6 not a complete waste, 7 a good two+ hours spent, an 8 a good two hours I will tell my friends about, 9 something I will consider seeing again, 10 will see again.

Rank 10/10: NA
Rank 09/10: V For Vendetta - Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest
Rank 08/10: NA
Rank 07/10: Superman Returns - Underworld: Evolution - Lucky Number Slevin - X-Men: The Last Stand
Rank 06/10: Bloodrayne
Waste of time: Slither - Tokyo Drift

Superman looks to be on the same track as Batman Begins, but took a bigger drop and oversea markets are not counting for a much income. With its budget of 260+ it may never make it back. By the numbers I gave to 4 weeks in the top 10, it may make five but...

Pirates is just opening overseas and has a production budget of $225 million, it is also getting a good number of repeat viewers, women viewers, kids, and older viewers.

I Superman Returns is in trouble. With a budget of 260 million I'm not sure it is going to do that much, domestically at least. I was hoping for so much more out of that flick...

Well I'll see Pirates at teh drive-in next week and find out if it is as fun as I hear.

I think that shows how weak the boxoffice is at this time, 6 to 10 all are less than 4 million, and number 5 is 10 million, there is a big gap.

Bear in mind that Superman Returns doesn't open here (and in at least some other parts of the world as well) until this Friday, so it hasn't even started taking money in some international markets.

Pirates of the Caribbean opened in the UK last Thursday.

(Quite why the powers-that-be decided it would be a good idea to hold Superman back until after Pirates over here is beyond me. Surely it would have been better to release on 28/06, against an essentially empty box office, rather than 14/07 against Pirates of the Caribbean?)

This week releases are Little Man and You, Me, and Dupree - it will be interesting to see how Dupree does at the boxoffice; I think it will have enough draw to knock Superman from the number two spot. The question, will Little Man, if it takes in over 14 million they may be neck and neck, I don't see it but you never know.

Next weekend it is Clerks 2, Lady in the Water, Monster House and My Super Ex-Girl Friend. This will spread out the boxoffice take. This weekend will hurt Superman the most, it would be out four weeks, take would have dropped to about the 5 to 7 million range, he wil be just holding on to a top 10 spot.

WTF? Fast and the Furious is still on the top 10? C'mon people, honestly...

Have you seen Tokyo Drift? It's a fun movie, if you like cars and hot women and don't like plot or acting. In fact, in that case it's an awesome movie.

they needed more women...lots more...and less clothes...and tenacles or giant robots to improve this movie. :(
