Don't forget that the fighter also gets to make a melee basic attack as an immediate interrupt against the marked goblin if he hasn't already used his one immediate interrupt he gets per round. He can also do this if the goblin shifts while adjacent.

Are you sure about that? I thought he only got to whack marked foes who shift while adjacent to him.

That fancy new D&D Compendium says: "In addition, whenever an enemy that is adjacent to you shifts or makes an attack that does not include you, you can make a melee basic attack against that enemy as an immediate interrupt."

Yeah, that's already been changed in the PHB to include the line "and Marked by You". Well, not physically changed, but errata.

We've already enacted the "house rule" that the person responsible for imparting the condition is the one that needs to remember it. There's too much for the DM to do all the tracking.
I made a trade for a full set of Alea magnets 2 years ago at Gen Con.

Those will be absolute life-savers, I expect.

I kill Garnell the Great and loot his body. How much XP do I get?

1000 XP... if you survive. He's a level 5 Solo Wizard, with the ability to cast two spells a round.

I know my group; I know that there's a couple of players who might just attack him, so I statted him up using the NPC rules to see how it went. Interesting result. :)

Cheers!
