D&D 5E Thoughts on a Darksun Cleric

Not to side track(too much), but I've always been curious about defilers leaving Darksun to other realms, and wizards traveling to Darksun.
Consider why Athas has defilers. it's because the world almost completely run out of natural magic. All living things require at least a little magic to be alive, defilers fuel their spells by draining that trace magic from the living thing around them. Thus, if a defiler where to travel to a plane with abundant background magical energy, they wouldn't defile. A wizard from another plane who landed up on Athas would have their spells fail due to insufficient magical energy, unless they learned to defile.

Of course, one of the reasons Athas is drained of magical energy is its isolation from other planes. If you could open up a stable portal to another plane magical energy could be drawn from there (see Doctor Who: Logopolis).

The problem with Templar’s as warlocks is eldritch blast. The eldritch blast ruins the purpose of the Templar in dark sun.

It has to be restricted anyway, pact of the chain or the blade is out of question. Both do not fit Athas. So it has to be a reskinned of the book warlock. Eldritch blast is not necessarily on the spell list. Just call it inflict wounds instead and you get back full turn to the clerical origins.

*Does not have to be a book! it might be a signet ring or a necklage or brooch which acts as a id of status for the Templar e.g.

I would like to see the possibility of warlock being created to be effective without eldritch blast Because the theme of the class works great. Just not the mechanics

Pact of the chain would be the odd fit for Dark Sun. Book and blade work fine.

And you only need to make the traditional templar functional. Other sorts of templar might be possible - we just haven't seen them/no one (apart from special snowflake PCs) does it that way.

Blade does not work fine, it is easy access to a magic high quality weapon
