Thoughts on FFG's Horizon: Virtual

I just picked up Virtual along with Mechamorphosis, and I've gotta say, I'm quite impressed. I'm wondering why I haven't heard anything about it, maybe I just missed all the buzz? I've been working on (read: thinking about and not actually doing any work) a Rockman.exe/Megaman Battle Network D20 game and I think this is a good jumping off point. I've only read a bit of the book so far, all the 'race' stuff and the first class, Antiviral. I really, really like the Antiviral. I was expecting a Cleric in cyberspace, but it's quite unique actually. I've already got plans for a virus-like Antiviral whose bent on destroying all of User and Programspace.

So has anyone tried Virtual yet? I'm starting a new Planescape campaign Sunday, but am extremely tempted to go with Virtual instead... Dunno how my players would take it, though. I've been building 'em up on the idea of PS for a while now. Oh well, we'll see. The nice thing about how I've got our game set up is that I have plenty of opportunities to switch around to different systems and settings.

Mixing mine with a Dragonstar campaign. The Pregenitor Virus have been sent by the antagonist to wreck the usual havoc. Unfortunately, the virus' didn't work as planned. To cover up the damage and (as a byproduct) corrupt more citizens,a new computer product (VIrtual... go figure) was released. It gives the citizens access to Program Space (they think its a simulation). Users can use different forms (kind of like signing in with a different user name) but can't take any classes.

Lots I still have to work out, but it helps me get one of my players more involved.

I have Redline and Spell Slinger. I like them both and plan on getting Grimm and Mechamorphsis. I liked Redline a bit more. Spell Slinger had these wierd class/background thing that took a while to figure out. The classes also had odd numeric progression for no [obvious] reason. Finally, there's this wierd "all characters start at third level" thing stuck in some text out of no where. What's up with that?

I've been pondering possible other games ...

GIjOE
80's Amerika - Soviets invade (ala Red Dawn)
Alias type goofy action occult spy
Space Marine - military game set in an Aiens/Predator/Starship Troopers world
Game were you are cultists trying to destory the world.

Anyone know what they have planned?

There's a free GI Joe d20 modern file out there somewhere (made by someone on the WotC boards). I think you can find it on the same website that hosts power overwhelming, but don't quote me on it.

I actually just use core and Blood and Guts by RPGObjects to run a GI Joe game. It's quite a blast.
