Thread block

Is it possible that the OP has turned on two way ignore recently, so before they may habe had people on ignore, but they could still see / reply to threads, and now turned on two way ignore so people suddenly can't access them anymore? And so ignores may be based on activity some time ago?

This seems reasonably likely to me. It's also an excellent example of why I'm not a fan of two-way blocking, but I assume that's a decision that isn't going to be reassessed by the administration any time soon, so it is what it is.

Edit: Looking at the settings, it looks like it's possible to set two way ignore, so anyone you block can't see your posts, while still allowing you to see theirs (by unchecking "remove ignored content"). I find that particularly dubious, as it allows you to disrupt other posters without meaningfully inhibiting your own ability to view any posts. [Further edit: Not intending to imply that's what's going on here, just something I noticed as potentially possible to do.]

In theory, this problem will fix itself.

That's because this whole situation, where being ignored by someone means you can't see/access their threads, is a Xenforo setting. Moreover, it's one that's happened before, and was undone later on, before somehow being switched back on. As such, I'm still hopeful that they'll tweak whatever they've done so that we can once again participate in threads by someone who has us on ignore.

Mod Note:Folks, however annoying this is, please note that gossiping about the ignore use by individuals, who has who else on ignore, and why, is not behavior we're looking for on these boards, even if cloaked in functional discussion about the feature.

Yes, locking people out of threads isn't how we want ignore to work, but right now that's how Xenforo functions.

I might be wrong, but I think I've accessed threads where I'm blocked/blocking by going in through users posts in their profile.
You could try going into your own post history in your profile, if you were posting in the thread they should still be there, and it should allow you to access the thread again that way. (If you're still blocked that way, you could try another poster that's not blocked, you just have to remember who else was posting in that thread)

If the OP of a thread blocks you, do you lose access to the entire thread? The "player skill vs character skill" thread just completely disappeared from my view and I'm trying to figure out why. Thought maybe I was blocked by whoever the OP is.

I've lost access to the D&D Memes Discussion thread.

There should be a mechanism for switching threads like that to a staff member so the person who started them can't cut people off from them entirely by blocking.

It looks to me like EnWorld is using custom code or some plugin to add additional blocking functionality, so changing it may be easier said than done. Checking my own private forum, which is a mostly default Xenforo install, there are no user-visible controls to tweak how the ignore feature works, unlike what's available here. Checking the admin features, I could find no toggles for board-wide ignore settings, so it looks like any changes would need to be done via code changes somewhere. Further, a thread on this very topic over on the Xenforo forums suggests that, by default, Xenforo offers nothing but a traditional ignore -- no two-way, and no way to completely remove the fact that the ignored user exists or is posting.
