I used the above picture to show the players what their PCs saw, specifically because it was from the 2E Monstrous Manual. I had a player who had purchased a 3E Monster Manual for himself, and he was using it to look up monster abilities during game sessions. By using that picture and only referring to the skum as "fish-men," he had no idea what the PCs were encountering.
