Three feet of hewn stone, who can break it?

First Post
Hey, I was looking at the Forgotten Realms DM's screen and it states in there for some odd reason that the strength DC to break three feet of hewn stone is 50. 50!!, that's a lot, say you roll a twenty, you still need to have a 60 strength to break through it. as far as I can figure with the rules and such, a human could only have a max of 34 strength at twentieth level. So far actually, the only thing that can do it is Thor from the new D&D book. So am I wrong or am I overlooking something?

Well

...if you ever tried to run full speed, with your shoulder first, against 3 feet of hewn stone to break it down like a silly door...you might know why it´s a feat best left to gods and heroes of inhuman proportions :D

This sort of information could actually come in handy once the ELH is released, and characters start popping up with insane bonuses to skills and abilities. There's already a published PrC that can easily make DC 60 Balance, Jump and Tumble checks at a mere 20th level. I'm sure DC 50 ability checks will be well within the capabilities of epic-level characters.

What PrC? could you tell me which one it is?

Blade dancer, from OA. It's basically the archetypal wuxia/wire-fu martial artist. It gets Acrobatics as a special ability, which grants up to a +30 competence bonus to Balance, Jump and Tumble checks, and the ability to take 10 on these skill checks at any time.

Well, that's fine and dandy, but there are very few things that make you have to use your regular stats to do a DC, strength is pretty much it. That's why it is so hard, sure, I can make a 15th level rogue with +56 to hide, with skill mastery it is 66 at all times. But his strength checks are still only +3, with a max of 23. So it really is a question of how you can get your strength up to the prerequisite 70 strength. ...

Well, right you of course can make something up... But realistically, there isn't a way a normal PC can do it. You take a Half-orc cleric with the strength domain, have him have a 20 strength right off the bat, give him the five bonus for 20 levels, the belt of giant strength +6, and the manual of strength +5, to get a whopping 36 as his strength, you use the rage spell, I think there is one somewhere for clerics, and then his strength domain power, which gives a +20 to his strength for one round, he still is 10 shy of the 70. With a strength prestige class, sure that might be possible, but again, I was just asking through the rules. Knowing what stacks and what doesn't, at that point, the character is better off just attacking the wall and doing the damage.
