Take some levels of Warblade or Sorcerer and learn the spell Whirling Blade (most recently published in the Spell Compendium). It lets you throw a single edged weapon and affect every target in a 60' line at your highest attack...and the weapon instantly reappears in your hand after the spell's effect ends...and its duration is identical to Lightning Bolt's.
Advantages: You need carry only one axe, and it can be as big a weapon as you can wield, so 2 handers are perfectly valid- it just has to be edged. Even something you need Powerful Build or Monkey grip to wield is valid. The insta-teleporting means you never lose it. You can do this as many times as you have the spell memorized. Multiple targets in a single attack.
If you're using the special materials rules from Forgotten Realms, you could have the weapon made out of magically tempered gold or platinum (see Magic of Faerun)- making it a Heavy Weapon (requiring another Feat)- it will do even more damage...
Disadvantages: Arcane Spell Failure, though with Scout levels in the mix, you're unlikely to have heavy armor...AND taking Warmage levels instead of Sorcerer or Wizard would eliminate that problem as well. Its a low level spell, so easier to dispel, less likely to work at higher levels.
Be warned, though- there is some question as to whether this is an Effect spell as described, or an Area Effect spell that had a typo in it- it has elements of both, and the distinction between the 2 spell types is poorly defined. Why does it matter? If its the latter, the spell can be affected by the Metamagic Feat, Sculpt Spell. If you go with this route, get that cleared up with your DM ASAP.
