I'm not sure if I'm missing something, but why are there shock/shocking burst, flaming/flaming burst, and frost/icy burst, but only Thundering for sonic? It only works on a critical, like the other burst weapons. Is there a sonic weapon ability that works like frost, shock, or flaming, that is, every time you hit?

Sonic damage is a bit stronger than other "energy" types, so it's rare in Core.

I think MIC has an ability that gives +1d4 Sonic damage every hit; otherwise, consider Psychokinetic which gives +1d4 untyped damage, and is in the SRD.

Not in the DMG, at least (don't have the MIC, maybe someone else could check?). You'll also notice that there is no such thing as an acid weapon either...

I'm pretty sure acid and sonic weapons exist in the MIC, though I can't check.

Stormwrack has Caustic and Acidic Burst weapons that may also be in the MIC.

If you look in the Magic Item Compendium you will find an effect called Screaming. This does 1d6 Sonic Damage per hit.
