My wife hates gaming and all things about it. She tried to get me to stop when we were dating. She thought getting married would get me to stop. She thought having a child would get me to stop, until I bluntly informed her otherwise.

May I still be playing when they release v13.5 .

May my gaming library constitute a fire hazard on my homeowners insurance.

May I be known universally amongst neighborhood children as "that old gamer guy."

May my last words be "my hit points just went to neg ten."

She can have my dice when she pries them from my cold, dead hand. And even then, I hope she has to succeed on a turning check to get them! :p

Isn't this how liches get started?

Amen

When I first got together my girlfriend (of six years now), thought RPG's sounded dumb and boring. She obviously didn't like me being away at my gaming group, thus leaving her alone in the evenings (she was new in town at the time and didn't have any friends of her own).

There was really only one thing for it: Teach her the rules and invite her to play!

Her current character is number twenty-something, and she's enjoying the game immensly. For her secong-to-last character, took the time to stat up her character's husband, their two young kids, her parents, the husbands parents, her two sister-in-laws and even her blacksmith grandfather. (All these NPC family-members were commoners or experts, complete with stats, skills and individual background-stories!) She even made a detailed drawing of the smal house her character lived in; exterior and floorplans!

All of this because I (as DM for that campaign) challenged her to come up with a rich background for her character... (And also because it was an extremely rainy four-day weekend! ;) )

Yeah, I'd say she's quite into the game! :D

The oldest player here is, obviously, Col. Pladoh a.k.a. Gary Gygax

Hey trainz!

Well, Mr. Gygax has been playing the longest, but he's probably not the oldest D&D player there is. There have been a couple of stories where someone played with their grandparents or something

Well I just turned 41, but it didn't feel very old at all since I was treated to a cake, singing of the Happy Birthday song, and a day of great gaming at PirateCat's house. Best present a guy could ask for.

One of the players in my weekly campaign is in his early 50's. The other players are all in their late 30's or early 40's. And yes, we plan to still be playing in the nursing home.

"Roger, please don't use your dentures for the Gibbering Mouther"

"argh i swallowed my d6 instead of my medecine!"

"argh I dropped a die. Nurse, NURSE!"

"argh! I made it to 20th level! eurk!" *keels over dead*
