Cobra-la, the alien version of the archienemies of G.I.Joe could be added into Spellajmmer, at least like a no-canon article published for April's Fool.

A Kaladesh-Transformers crossover may be possible, at least as a comic miniserie, but the famous characters wouldn't appear but all the cybertronians would be totally new characters.

* In the past Dragonlance was the second fantasy franchise after the Lord of the Rings, but as TTRPG was too "railcoast" and the metaplot too linked to the heroes of the dragonlance. Krynn is one of the main reasons to ask the idea of "time spheres" or parallel worlds.

* But FR the metaplot of the rest of D&D lines will be totally frozen, stopped, when I want to know how the ones of Ravenloft and Dark-Sun will continue.

Cobra-La are just Yuan-Ti when you get down to it

But yeah, I reckon FR fatigue has hit in hard. I wouldn't be surprised if something Eberron related comes out given the associated book, and would personally love some Dark Sun or Spelljammer stuff, but couldn't say I'm sure where any would be placed

They could have, but they didn't.

We could have had a (brief) look at a new place of interest. Instead we got Baldur's Gate again.
The City has brand recognition and has never been detailed in an official product. It’s a good grimy alternative to the polished and sophisticated Waterdeep.

With the success of Baldurs Gate and the upcoming Baldurs Gate 3 the bigger question is why has it taken so long.

It requires zero effort to replace Baldurs Gate locations with Westgate or Procampur or one of a hundred cities that haven’t been detailed.

So they managed to leverage off the popularity of the Baldur's Gate game whilst having nothing in it that was specific to Baldur's Gate in any way? That's a pretty neat trick.
