D&D 5E TIME STOP SPELL (9º)

Here's a thought:

Use Time Stop to end a nasty effect with multiple saves:

You get multiple turns, typically you get a save at the end of a turn. I' think (as a player) using a Time Stop to save 2-5 times is pretty good.

That said, a DOT spell could be a nasty preventative against a caster using Time Stop: Go ahead dude, thats 2-5 turns of damage (since DOT spells are "at the start of the turn").

Re: "fixing" the spell.
I am more of a fan of making it a reaction casting time rather than upping the duration. Doing that is a nice way defensive way to MOVE (a lot if needed), cast a few defensive spells (like walls), and basically get in a better position to deal without ever you are reacting to.

With only 1 9th level spell slot available on any day, it is important that you actually be able to do something useful with it. Time Stop used to be the best nova spell in the game. Cast Time Stop and fire off as many high level spell slots as you can before time runs out. Now it is basically worthless.

I was hoping to follow this thread a bit more, but for some reason I can not view page 9. It keeps going back to page 8. Figured I would post something to see if it shakes something loose.

And now I can see page 9! Yay!

I wonder if it is because I posted a reply.

Anyway, now that I can see some posts I will get back on topic...

After looking through spells it seems it really does need to be changed. Even as a reaction I'm not sure it is worth it. Someone mentioned walls, but all wall spells are also concentration. Honestly it is the concentration mechanic that has ruined the spell.

I said something similar about bonus actions. Wizards of the Coast came up with the idea of bonus actions, then they went overboard and made everything that wasn't a regular action a bonus action. Things that should be possible and are not overpowered are not possible because you can only have one bonus action a round. And they did the same thing with concentration. I understand why they did it, but they went overboard.

So would reducing the number of spells with concentration fix Time Stop? And how much would be too much? I don't want to go back to the 3.x days of dozens of buff spells, but it seems they went too far in the other direction with 5e.
