Time to write spells in Boccob's Blessed Book

First Post
How long does it take a wizard to write a spell into Boccob's Blessed Book?

1 day + 1 day per spell level?
1 day (fix)?
anything else?

Free Action, now that would be neat... :D

I thought, because it only needs one page regardless of spell level, there might be a similar reduction in time needed to scribe (like all scribing durations are based on spell level 0, which also happens to need one page only).

So, the only thing about 'freely', that has been clarified or specified, is that you do not have to pay anything (even the ink is for free ;)), right?

Too bad, would be quite handy, if you could scribe spells in there during an adventure, without spending about a week to do so.

I thought you still had to pay for ink to put it in the book? Although it would seem that since it only takes one page to write a complete spell you would only need 1 page worth of ink to put it in there.....

I always viewed this as a magically long page functioning similar to your computer screens scrolling-down function. You write the spell and at the point you would have ordinarily needed a new page the view on the page scrolls down a bit to accomodate more writing. At the end of your writing the page scrolls back to the top. Then as you are reading the spells to memorize it the page scrolls down to the point your eyes are viewing.

If my view of this item is correct then you would need just as much ink and just as much time to draft the spell in the book as you would had you drafted the spell in an ordinary spellbook.

Here's a Sage Reply for ya'...

Howdy-Ho. Just looking for a clarification here: it has been mentioned on the boards that Monte Cooke issued a clarification on his web sight that the text "accepts freely" from the Boccob's Blessed Book magic item in the DMG means that it does not cost any gp to scribe spells into it

Good for Monte!

- is this correct?

Yes, it's correct.

Secondly, how long does it take to scribe the spell? (My assumption is that it still takes the same amount of time to scribe the spell into the book)

Correct.
