Time Travel

For the conclusion of my Forgotten Realms campaign, I plan on sending the party 1000 years back in time to a point where their enemy was less powerful and easier to defeat.

Does anyone have suggestions or rules for time travel?

I think it poses a unique challenge to both players and DM's and would appreciate any ideas.

Get yourself the Netheril campaign setting and use 'How the Mighty are Fallen' for inspiration and lots of cool ideas.

The Netheril CS also has rules on gods that lived at the time and spells available as well as how to get there.

For a really different feel, convert their characters to AD&D 1e or maybe even OD&D to make a point. :D

Ooh! converting to OD&D for an adventure!!! I like it!

I might have to do it to my players. :)

Isn't that 1st Ed. boxed sets? OD&D was the Blue Book (the one with the dragon, archer, and wizard). The one you are missing is the "Companion Set" from the list above.

There are some suggestions for time travel in MindScape (Malhavoc Press, Bruce Cordell, Psionic Supplement) - there is a class that gets the ability to travel through time, but it has to follow some special rules. (Only a minium amount of time, and if you change something big and noticable, you - and who knows what with you - will die, once "back" in your "home time")

I don't think they were 1st Ed. All I know is they said Dungeons and Dragons on the cover, long before anyone thought about having editions or Advanced stuff.

Thanks for the heads up! I guess I'll have to go digging around some old used book stores to find them.

IMC, we had to go back 4000 years to take care of the BBEG when he was "little" (lvl 40 instead of 110)

I think we used a variation on the WotC time portal post.
