Tips for Clerics

Nothing says, "priestly" quite like a 3.5 Tower Shield.

For the price of a single feat (and a mere -2 to hit), you can buff and heal in the middle of combat without ever drawing an AoO. Ever.

Doesn't matter if your flanked by eight 20th-level Rogues.

Your party will love you, even if your DM doesn't.

And always make sure to rotate a lot. ;)

Alright here's what I got on Tyr as it pertains to the Realms:

Portofolio: Justice

Typical Worshippers: Paladins, judges, magistrates, lawyers, police and the oppressed

Domains: Good, Knowledge, Law, Retribution, War

Favored Weapon: "Justicar" (Longsword)

Well, this god looks like a maker of melee clerics but as that's not what you want to play and you want to stay with this god, it seems to me that you'll want the Magic domain and the Law domain.

I would go for a character based oround defusing and de-escalating situations. If you're making a first level character, I might recommend something like this:

Str 10
Dex 10
Con 11
Int 10
Wis 16
Cha 14

0 level: Detect Magic, Light, Read Magic
1st level: Protection from Chaos, Divine Favour, Shield of Faith
(Other good spells: Summon Monster I -- great spell if you have a rogue who needs a target flanked; Magic Stone -- in case you are disarmed at some point; Inflict Light Wounds -- if you need to make an attack on a creature with a really high armour bonus)
(At second level, the name of the game is sound burst -- it's amazing: an area effect spell that does D8 damage with no save, not to mention the chance of stunning all those peopel for a round!; also, Eagle's Splendour -- ideal way to buff your undead turning; Silence -- for those who have to face other spell casters)
(At third level, Blindness is the most underestimated spell -- it can really screw up your opponents; Searing Light -- another evocation with no save; Dispel Magic -- enough said)

Feats: Combat Casting, Scribe Scroll
Skill Ranks: Concentration 4, Spellcraft 3, Diplomacy 2, Heal 3

Some how fung, I doubt he's going to go magic and Law...as far as I know the only god that comes close is Azuth ...and it's a much better combo to go Magic and Spell with him.

My personal choice as a cleric of Tyr, Retribution and War. Be the vengeful wrath of Tyr to the harbingers of chaos and disorder. :) Plus you can always choose to follow Raziel as well and go Fist of Raziel later on.
