Titans of Scarn.

She did?

I don't have the Deity book so I'll take your word for it.

Are you suggesting venom as malice for Mormo?

Yep. It's in the Deity book. She's far crueler than Lethene but not as crazy as Lethene was.

I was suggesting Venom as VENOM since one of Mormo's titles is The Lady of Venom.

I'd think it's more of assassination/murder kind of thing Vodam. After all, she DID poison her husband. Murderous thoughts perhaps?

Now a question for Ysgarran:
What are you thinking about when you ask? For some reason this reminded me of the Ultima series (which to be honest I'm not that familiar with). I understand the best games in the series were based around the virtues.... seven ideals Richard Garriot thought embodied either morality or heroism. In the most recent game they had all been warped into seven sins (the game was unplayable). So instead of valor you had cowardness, etc.
There were 7 big dungeons based around the themes and there were towns nearby where people had been infected by that sin and had to be purified.

Were you getting at anything with this question or were you looking more for something to put in the mouth of the local preacher or a discovered book of scripture?

(side note: titans don't marry, Mormo doesn't have a husband. They were apparently sort of coupled for a while back before recorded history but applying human-traditions to titans is kinda odd.)

Sorry Graf, you're right, they didn't marry. In fact far as I know, NONE of the gods have either.

Do they all gain promiscuity as an aspect? :)

seriously though,

I have to wonder though, from reading the campaign book (I liked it alot by the way!) Isn't it kind of the pother way around? The Titans created the Scarn etc and many of the races, so wouldn't the world/creatures then reflect the natures of the Titans? I can see from the descriptions of the Titans why the gods attracted worshipers though, the Titans were far from caring.

Griz.

I after I posted the marriage thing I felt kinda bad. Didn't mean to sound sharp. A Coreanist preist preaching on a street corner would almost certainly phrase it like marriage. So it was definitely a good contribution.

In responce to Griz:
This isn't anything more than my take on it but I don't really like equating the Titans/Gods to real life type stuff or to other fantasy settings.

(this is where I think Griz's question comes from)
Ex: In the versions of the bible I'm familiar with God created man in his image.

Titans aren't like the christian god. They created life originally as a kind of pride thing and later to further their own interests/amusements.
The vast majority of life on scarn (animals and stuff) were made by Denev. Titans made a bunch of random things, often by accident, which they almost universally forgot about or killed.

Certainly there's some strong evidence in the books that the existence of the primal titan will (Guarak was the example) pulled and warped the minds of the lesser beings around his remains. So the titan brainwaves have almost certainly affected mental developement across Scarn.

But I, personally, don't really think that the Titans creating a creature nessessitates that the creature will have aspects of the titan. Kadum created Corean and Corean turned out just like his daddy wanted. He succeeded and really really messed up.

As the books currently stand the orgins of the divine races (the PC races minus half-orcs) are deliberately unknown. While many people take this to mean that they were created by the Titans but won't admit it I'm not sure that S&S doesn't have something up their sleeves.

I had not made a direct connection between the ultima series, but I was looking for plot ideas based on the various Titans. I played a lot of Pendragon and I've always liked the clear and direct measurement of the different personality attributes.

The idea that I'm playing with is starting a new campaign where every player starts off with two characters with the clear intention that one of them is going to fall off the chosen path. Either the player will decide or I will decide that one of the character will become obsessed with one of the Titans. I'd like to capture 'There but for the Grace of the Gods go I' kind of feeling.

Things are not very concrete yet but here are some of the ideas that are floating around:

1. Fatlings would not be the only 'manifistation' of a Titan. Just
as Gaurak would have a Fatling, Hinruuk may change someone in
a different way (Lyncanthropy for the hunter?).
2. I did want to create temptations for the player characters
based on the Titans of Scarn, but I hadn't gone so far as creating
a seperate scenario for each Titan.
3. I've also thought about doing one time scenarios based on
the events of the Divine War just to give the players some feel
and background on Scarn.

Finally, I just like a cohesive mythology. Figuring out how the Titans of Scarn still have a direct connection to the divine races would give even more 'body' to the mythology of Scarn.

later,
Ysgarran.

p.s.
The campaign idea isn't something I'm going to ram down the players throat. I'll get their agreement before trying out this story line.

I was wondering about this too. I'm pretty sure that the it is mentioned that Golthagga created the dwarves to help him out at the forges. He thought that they were a bit fragile so he went on to create giants (fire?) who better stand the rigors.

If S&S had something up their sleaves I would have thought that they might of more clearly pointed out the mystery of the situation.
