D&D 5E Todd Kendrick Interviews Jeremy Crawford: Fizban Dragon Subclasses and Dragonborn races

I wonder about a new class like "dracolyte", with some ideas from the dragon shaman and the dragonfire adept, and the prestige class the dragon disciple. And the subclasses? Easy, one of each dragon specie.

Lol people want Draconic subclasses for all their favorite classes? Ya don't say!
It's as if people want to play Draconic options in a game named "Dungeons and DRAGONS"! Who knew!?!?

I mean, seriously, how much work would it really have been to add in a few more draconic subclasses into the book? Dragonrage Barbarian, Great Wyrm Warlock, Dragon Domain Clerics, and possibly one or two more. It's not rocket science.

Monk and Ranger are the two classes that I've never seen anyone request a draconic subclass for, but I've seen plenty of requests for Draconic subclasses for other classes that would be way better with a draconic subclass.

those are classes that need help, plus the book would be double sized if everything got a dragon subclass,

1) What does that have to do with anything? Giving a class that needs help a subclass isn't going to fix anything. That's like opening an icecream store whose original flavors were "Charcoal", "Skunkspray", and "Sandpaper", and then trying to keep your company from going bankrupt by adding a few actually good flavors later on, while still keeping the bad ones. You can't fix a badly designed class by giving it new subclasses.

2) Uh, no, it wouldn't. Do you know how many pages subclasses take up? Normally just one or two, three if it's a particularly big one. Even if every class in the game got a subclass (which I don't think anyone was asking for), that would be about 20-30 more pages. The book is 224 pages, so a couple dozen more pages would actually make it a better size, IMO. (Adventure books are typically around 256 pages, setting books are sometimes even more than that.)

So two things:

1: The lack of Kobolds is disheartening.

2: Everyone wanted Draconic subclasses for everyone, which were not realized because WotC wanted to give niche protection to Sorcerers.

But on the bright side, we can now point to this event as clear evidence that Sorcerers are, in fact, a favored class in D&D, and they get to shoot down the fun of everyone else to make themselves feel special!

Ok that last bit was hyperbolic, but damn it was cathartic. I'm just really tired of seeing fun subclass ideas go strait into the bin because people want to "protect Sorcerers."

WotC cares about sorcerers note the day as this is a momentous day.
No! Not just Sorcerers! Monks and Rangers, too! You know, everyone's favorite classes! The best mechanically balanced ones, too!
/s
the ones needing the most help got it would you rather something strong got one?
