D&D 5E Todd Kendrick Interviews Jeremy Crawford: Fizban Dragon Subclasses and Dragonborn races

More like futile. Most of your rolls are going to stink and they're going to stink forever unless you get the magic items that completely obviate putting ASIs into that stat.

Thanks, arithmophobia!
That doesn’t match the experience of anyone I’ve ever played 5e with.
I think this is more of a feeling thing. Having a +3 on your main stat while everyone has a +4 feels bad. Even if the game effects are minor, the feeling of being behind is rough
Absolutely. I don’t get it, but I know from other discussion here and IRL that you’re right. That is how a lot of people feel.

I mean, we get a Dragon Ranger and a Dragon Monk. If you technically want a Dragon for your other classes, jack the Oath of the Dragonlord from Odyssey of the Dragonlords (it's a Paladin subclass) or just jack the two Epic Destinies that straight up give you a Dragon.

Jeremy's rationale for the subclasses is completely solid though. Of all of the classes - fighter, cleric, barbarian, etc. - the dragon-based martial artist is literally the only one in the whole scope of DnD that is a common trope in popular culture. It's the only concept that exists broadly outside of the the game's echo chamber.
I agree that this trope is common, but your assertion is nevertheless literally not true.
